January 2 1988 Saturday - 23° at 7 AM - Sun 7:20 - 4:39 Watched streak of plane across sky at breakfast time. Wes had a better night -- could be better- Very quiet day - Wes rested. I had car washed on South Main Street Danbury - a long line - shopped Waldbaum - very crowded - Out only to fill bird feeders. Bit phoned in evening - she is well - Betsy went home New Years Day. 1989 - Monday - 31° at 7:30 - cloudy - foggy. Sun 7:23 - 4:37 (! Don't understand - a mistake maybe last week) Quiet, relaxing day. Wes in shop. We took down Christmas cards - too cold in Solar (no sun until afternoon) to take down tree. Made applesauce using Joan's fruit. Took a mile walk after nap when the sun came out. Watched Notre Dame/West Virginia football game - Notre Dame won. Put new suet feeder Eileen gave us on tree. Saw Redbellied Woodpecker several times but not on it yet. 1990 - Tuesday - 27° at 7 am - Fair. Sun 7:20 - 4:40 Beautiful day - over 32°. Didn't go to mass as thought with Father Medynski's illness, there was none - however, there was one. To bank, Ridgefield Supply for chain to rehang birdfeeder - left Wes' pants at tailor for zipper replacement. Grand Union - after lunch took down tree cut up branches for perennial garden - put away most decorations - shoveled ice from terrace. 1991 - Wednesday - 33° at 6:45 - Cloudy. Sun 7:20-4:39 Became a beautiful day - not too cold - sun warm. To White Plains at 8:45 - Chief Roy Brady's funeral was at St John's Church at 10. Impressive service - beautiful church. Back home - lunch at Marcus- Bank Shopped at Stop & Shop. Long nap, making up for past few days. 1992 - Thursday - 34° at 6 AM. Dark - Sun 7:20-4:39 none today - Cloudy, gloomy day. felt like a storm. To Mass. Went to Danbury Hospital for Wes' 10 o'clock appointment for an ultrasound picture of bladder and kidney - (Third floor) Kind personnel. Home for lunch. Too cold to take tree down. To Billie Newell's at 4:30 to see her Christmas decorations and for a drink - home at six. January 3 1988 - Sunday - 16° at 6:30 - Sun 7:20-4:41. Didn't see it - a cloudy gloomy day. To 8 o'clock Mass. Read papers - took Rosses to Purdy's to catch the 1:23 train - Home for a nap. More reading - I started knitting a red vest. Wes' cold better. Bearings of Eileen's furnace went - the blower. Emergency repair came but needs new bearings. Always something. 1989 - Tuesday - 30° at 6:30. Clear. Sun 7:20-4:41 - (back to normal time!) Carol Stoddard picked us up - took us to 9:48 train from Purdy's - walked to Citicorp at Lexington & 53rd - toy train show over - saw Whitney Museum - very few paintings we liked - Lexington bus back to Grand Central - picked up suitcase - walked to Algonquin - Room 514 very small in poor condition - Cost 160 plus 23.20 tax!! -unbelievable - nap - dinner in Rose Room - good - snow storm forecasted - very cold - Slept poorly. 1990 - Wednesday. 28° at 7 AM. Beautiful pink sky. Sun 7:20-4:41. Beautiful sunny day - breezy. First Camellia flower (Nancy Carroll's gift plant) open. Wes went to Wickes for a door knob for the garage door. Took a walk up Ned Mountain to #215. After lunch moved birdfeeder hanging from beech tree - big job, orchard ladder plus long Loud pruner to put up new chain. Noriega left Vatican Embassy in Panama - surrendered to army - flown to Florida 1991. Thursday - 29° at 6AM - Sun 7:20-4:40 Cold - some sun - not as good as yesterday. To Mass Took Christmas tree down - put away most of decorations. Cut off branches and covered some plants. Walked about, inspecting - in good shops. Did crossword. 1992 - Friday. Sun 7:20-4:40. Not a bad day considering the forecast for a storm coming tonight. To Mass - during Mass Mrs Keogh came enroute the hospital to say Al Keogh had died. We shopped S+S.. I drove to Norwalk Fabric Shop - bought cotton for a skirt and wool for a jacket. Home for a late lunch. Wes had finished sanding the laundry door. We took the Christmas tree down - not a hard job - not many needles dropping. Met Helen at 4:20, at Danbury Limousine- she came from Kennedy after visiting Arlene. Took her home - Back at 8:20
