January 8

1988 - Friday - 14° at 7:30. Snowing - windy.
Sun (won't see it) 7:20-4:45. Snowed all day - we raked and shoveled three times. Still snowing when we quit at 4:45. 
Kept the birdfeeder filled - squirrels not around. Town plows kept road open - we didn't go out - good we had shopped yesterday. 
Wes worked on plans for new engine - sent for steel.

1989 - Sunday - 34° at 6AM. NYTimes yesterday corrected lasts week's mistake in sun times. We knew it! Sun 7:20-4:46 - Didn't see the sun - Light rain & mist - Very foggy when we drove to Genovese - Wes needed lens cleaner. His tummy not quite recovered - we took it easy on meals. Wes in shop - I knitted - read paper. Had a long nap. In afternoon I made up our desk diary - appointments & birthdays. Finished the Times Sunday puzzle! 

1990 - Monday - 30° at 4pm. Cloudy. Breakfast after Mass. Sun 7:20-4:45, Dreary day - snow at night. Wes went for a haircut - milk at Marcus. We walked 2 miles to Dr. Henley's mailbox. Lunch - nap -. I sewed blue wool dress - not an easy pattern. We raised birdfeeder 18 inches but the squirrel still jumped on it from the rhododendron. Caught one mouse in kitchen cutlery drawer -

1991 - Tuesday - 18° at 6AM - Sun 7:50-4:45, Cloudy morning - cleared before noon. To Mass. Did crossword  I worked at Ballard Greenhouse 9:30/11:30 - left her bedspread at Muriel's (The one holding the greens given us at Christmas) bought 3 African Violets at Pinchbeck - home - we took a mile walk before lunch - nap - hobbied in afternoon.

1992 - Wednesday - 29° at 4AM - Fair Sun 4:20-4:45 Beautiful day. Did crossword. Wes drove me to Purdy for 10:21 train. Met Eileen in Grand Central - lunch at Oyster Bar. walked to Plymouth Theatre matinee of "Dancing at Lughnasa" Abbey Players - 5 Irish sisters and Brother Jack - very good - train to Tarrytown - Wes had come down - walked dogs - we had dinner and saw Eileen's rented film "Avalon" - Polish family in Baltimore. very good. 

January 9

1988 - Saturday - 22° at 7:15. Sun coming up hurray! At least 2 more weeks of snow - solar roof covered completely - yesterday the wind had piled snow there in drifts. Sun 9:20-4:46
We raked and shoveled most of day. there was a total accumulation of at least 8 inches - hard to tell with drifting. Worked on crossword puzzle - there went the day - couldnt finish the puzzle.

1989 - Monday - 38° at 6:15 Sun (not to see it) 7:20-4:47 To Mass. Did crossword - wash and ironed. 
To Liquor Store for bottle of wine for Al Timpanelli Stop & Shop for bananas etc - gasoline - bank
Wes in shop. I wrote letters - knitted.
Heard from Mary Hubbard that Lowell died Nov. 22.

1990 - Tuesday - 28° at 6:10. Beautiful winter snow scene. Cheese gone but no mouse. Sun 7:20- 4:46 Caught second mouse. Same drawer. early evening. 
No Mass account snow. Spent morning raking and shoveling - driveway - walks, solar roof, deck and paths all cleared. Temperature rose to 44° - Had martini to celebrate. I sewed blue wool dress in afternoon - washed hair. Wes read The "Raj"

1991 - Wednesday. 24° at 4:30. Light snow on ground - continuing hail/snow. Sun 7:20-4:46
Terrible day - freezing rain. Wes went out before dark - walking was dangerous - closed gate - left suet out. 
We cleaned the oven - good on a cold day - nice & clean at 12:30. We moved the rug in Wes' shop - cutting a piece from it to fit around pipe - cleaned up floor & wall. Had a martini at noon to celebrate. 
Hobbies in afternoon

1992 - Thursday. Overnight at Eileen's. Cloudy 
Left for home after breakfast - dropped off Wes and went to Marcus for milk - home just when snow started - good timing! Turned to freezing rain = then rain. Did crossword. Wes put cover back on shop radiator - brown cover looks good. We cut back old Christmas cactus - repotted it with new soil - did a work wash
