January 28 1988 - Thursday - 8° at 6:30 - Put up heat & went back to bed. Fair - Sun 7:10 - 5:08 - Very cold but sunny day. To Ballard Garden to check measurements - find name of Espalier - wording on plaque for Federated questionnaire To Reclamation - Liquor to take to Eileen - Stop & Shop - Had car washed for $6.00 - to Danbury to leave form on drugs - filters for vacuum. After lunch cleaned off snow from deck - did crossword - knitted. 1989 - Saturday - 26° at 7 AM - Clear. Sun - 7:10 - 5:08. Beautiful day. Took our 2 mile walk - Wes liked his birthday Reebok walking shoes. Early lunch and nap. To Eileen's at 2 pm for overnight. Saw Tucker Jean and Sue's wheablond white puppy - a ball of fire. Walked the dogs about the landing - Eileen's stew for dinner. Saw mystery "Morse - Lost Bus to Woodstock", 1990 - Sunday - 35° at 6 AM. Sun 7:10 - 5:08 Good morning. becoming cloudy in mid-afternoon. To 8 o'clock Mass - I was Lector. Few chores - papers. Early lunch. at 12:15 picked up Helen and Alex and went to Commerce Park where saw "Driving Miss Daisy" - very good. Took Rosses home - had a nap - dinner - watched some of Super Game. SF 49'ers won easily with Joe Montana. 1991 - Monday - 40° at 7 AM. Light rain overnight Cloudy morning. Sun 710-508. Cleared to a beautiful day. I went to Heidi Riggs' at 9AM for a meeting on making a 4x5 garden for Hartford Flower Show in May. Home at 12:15. We took a walk. Wes waiting for engine part to be delivered so is at a standstill in shop. He paid bills. We did crossword. To Stop & Shop for bananas and suet. 1992 - Tuesday - 25° at 6AM. Moon & Stars out. Sun 7:10-5:08. Good day - cold but no wind To Mass. Wire cage over suet working well - little birds can get in - Wes watched crows try & fail. I went to Garden Club meeting - Les Corey of Nature Conservancy - good talk. Food sale - I took soup and bought Muriel's casserole and Lillian Welles' dip - home at 12:30. Wes had filled holes in new door to hayloft - sanded it. I did more tax work. We took a mile walk. Wes' Birthday January 29 1988 - Friday - 10° at 6AM - Beautiful sunny winter day - sun 7:09-5:09 - a little milder but not over 32°. To Mass. Did crossword. Wes bled what radiators he could - loud noises someplace. Did a work wash. Picked up Alex & Helen and they took us to The Inn for Wes' birthday - good luncheon - we looked at The Inn's up-stairs room for our Anniversary - good place we think. Joan & Hooker phoned to wish Wes Happy Birthday - Joan had a second seizure last night - ambulance to hospital but not kept. 1989 - Sunday - in Tarrytown - cloudy day but about 40°. To 7:30 Mass at Church of the Transfiguration Took a long walk in Rockefeller Nature Preserve. Mary came up and Eileen gave us a birthday dinner - Mary brought the cake. We left at 3:15 - took small chair, bread and coffee cake to Carolyn & Pete - Home for a nap. Enjoyed "All Passion Spent" on Channel 13. 1990 - Monday. 34° at 6AM - Snowing. Sun 709-509 About 2 1/2 inches - No Mass. Wes raked driveway twice. Some birthday present. I cleared walks, Solar roof and deck. Snow stopped at noon, turned to rain. We had a martini for a birthday celebration. Wes in shop and read the Raj. I made Tavern Bars and bran muffins. 1991 - Tuesday - 26° at 6AM. Sun 710-5:08 To Mass. I left at 8:45 - gasoline at Caste's Texaco $1.49 9 /Super gal - to Garden Club meeting at Library - left before the program on Everglades to have a Martini and sandwech in the Solar with Wes, after we had taken our mile walk. Hobbies in afternoon - To Helen Ross' at 5:30 - for dinner - Tempanelli's there - happy evening - home at 9:30. 1992 - Wednesday - 26° at 7AM - Sun 7:09-509 Sun coming up further to the north. Beautiful day temperature up to 46°. Did crossword. Wes filled holes in new door on hay loft side. I put plant light in ups-tairs bath and put all marigolds under - too warm in furnace room for them. Put 5 each in 2 8" pots - now have 3. To town at 11:30 - had car washed - what a change! - birdfood at Youngs - Parmesan at Deli Italia - Met Helen Ross at Inn - she took us to lunch - home at three - nap & read. Kelly came to Blackwells.
