March 12

1988 - Saturday - 28° at 6:45-Fair - Home from Philadelphia Beautiful day. To Waldbaums - Wes had car cleaned. Bank - Marcus. 
Dragged brush to upper road- Wes cut the remaining big pieces below and above shed -area looks better. 

1989 - Sunday - 32° at 6AM- Left some plants in Solar overnight by mistake but luckily they didn't freeze - Cloudy - started to snow after 8 o'clock Mass - not any accumulation - cleared at 3pm to sunshine when we took our walk. Lovely quiet relaxing day - Wes in shop - I fooled with plants and did a little sewing - Read paper at night - last of "Christabel" on Channel 13 - not a very exciting show - sad scenes of war.
Helen Ross told me Alex' difficulty is start of Alzheimers. Sad. 

1990 - Monday - 50° at 6 AM. Light rain - Mostly cloudy day - up to 54°. To Mass. I had lunch with Muriel Pedersen and Ricky Harrison at Touchstones Ricky going to Phila Flower Show and on to Gettysburg to see Annie.
We took a mile walk, then walked about inspecting - took heavy mulch partly off Cardinal flowers - brought in new Lobelias (4) from coldframe - top came off - also brought in one Clethra and an oakleaf hydrangea. Decided to go to Boston Flower Show tomorrow.

1991 - Tuesday - 23° at 6 AM. Clear. Sun 613-559 Fair day - cold & windy - real March. To Mass. I went to Ridgefield Garden Club meeting at 8:45 - Congregational Church - food sale - talk on big trees - home after shop of Cheese Chop for ginger, at 1:15 lunch - nap. to Post Office and Stop & Shop.
Wes had repaired Grandmother's clock weight - part dropped off. We reviewed old slides in evening
We had three raccoons under birdfeeder at night!

1992 - Thursday - 23° at 6 AM - Very light snow on ground. Sun 6:12-5:59. Very high wind, but sunny 
Did not take a walk - but thought of it! Haven't walked much this winter. Did have our sandwich in the Solar - lovely and warm. House chores
Finished up a lot of papers - did crossword. I sewed the white frill-front blouse. Wrote Joan and mailed "Seconding" letter to Garden Club on Liz Montanari.


March 13

1988 - Sunday - 42° at 6 AM - Misty - cleared about 9 AM. Sun 6:16-6:01. To 8 o'clock Mass. Skies cleared in morning - mostly clear & beautiful - up to 60. Relaxing day - read papers - I started new knitted vest - Black & white Silk & wool yarn - tricky pattern. - Wes took an early nap & then in shop - Martini in Solar - Warm - did crossword (Saturday) changed bird feeder to a hanger on tree instead of kitchen window - squirrel getting after that. I stayed up to see two episodes of Mystery Morse - finished all papers.

1989 - Monday - 18° at 6 AM - We slept well - right on to 6 AM. Jean Mahan phoned she had taken Eileen to Phelps Hospital last night - pancreas attack - will have tests.
I dropped Wes off at Mass - on to Ballard Park to meet Edith Miffley and Joe Keller on pruning lilacs - shopped Grand Union - Brunetti - to bank before going home. Wes went for a haircut & to Marcus for milk. Took our two mile walk. Wes went to Dr. Michael James at 2 pm - blood pressure & heart good - had metal splinter taken from thumb - a tetanus shot. I finished pink cotton skirt - seedlings coming up - arranged them under lights.

1990 - Tuesday - 40° at 6:45 - Fair. Sun 611-600
Made preparations for trip to Boston Flower Show. Left about ten - over an hour delay east side of Waterbury due to accident - sandwich lunch at rest stop - went into Mass. Visitors Center for directions to Flower Show and arrived at Show 3 pm - Stayed until six - lost way couple times to Days Inn Natick, but finally found it and glad to get in. Very warm day but cool evening Garden-in-Woods and Weston Nurseries exhibits outstanding

1991 - Wednesday - 24° at 6 AM. Fair. Sun 612-6:00
Wes took car to Honda for service - 36,200 miles - back at 9:30. I had thrown out old slides - keeping only those of the garden here and a couple of Nellie & Wes Wes later threw away all those in upstairs storeroom. We will give away the screen & projector. Took our mile walk. Raised lights over some plants. I sewed in afternoon. Wes read.
Saw a Sharp Shinned Hawk in tree in Garden Room (all small birds disappeared)

1992 - Friday - 23° at 6 AM - Fair. Sun 610-601
To Mass. Beautiful day - windy but not as high a wind as yesterday. To fill up with gasoline ($1.44) bank for cash. Marcus for milk & eggs. Mall (Ted's Clock) to pick up Gilbert Shelf Clock - liquor - home - sign on Bogus Sophia corner "Open House" - the Grouse house for sale. Surprised. Call Mary Grouse later to find number disconnected. Took a mile walk. Lunch - nap - sewed on blouse - found iron was broken - made an apple cake - too good for my weight
