March 30

1988 - Wednesday - 36° at 6 AM. Fog - Sun came thru fog at breakfast time. To Mass.
Wes moved more logs from top (right) of big rock to screen it from view below. In afternoon be continued raking leaves from bulbs and beeches on North Slope. Wright came to do first spraying of trees and bushes. I planted the 3 miniature roses from pots to perennial garden - put in the 3 Astilbe taqueti delivered 2 weeks ago by White Flower Farm. Took salt hay from cuttings some look very good

1989 - Thursday - 43° at 6 AM - Cloudy. To Mass. Rain about 8 AM - most of day - thunderstorm at noon. Stayed indoors most of day. Wes in shop. I transplanted a lot of flower seedlings - the Solar floor area is crowded. I dug up one Bridal Wreath Spyrea and a Strawberry - forced them into GCA black pots - will try to force for annual meeting.

1990 Friday - 33° at 7 AM. About an inch of snow (Sun 5:43-6:18 - none today) Snow continued lightly until 11 AM - then light rain - miserable looking.
To 10 o'clock funeral mass for Anne Francheni's son Peter. Wes went to Ace and the bank. I shortened red wool pleated skirt. Helen Lewis come to pick up Burpee's catalog - she will order Dahlia seeds - Gizella picked up her basket of plants - told us of their trip to New Zealand.

1991- Holy Saturday - 33° at 6:30. Snowing!
Lasted until noon - sun out then but snow didnt melt from deck.
To Stop and Shop - cleaned house. Did crossword - there went the day. I waxed the bottom of the Audubon birdfeeder to try to keep one squirrel from climbing it - clever little devil.

1992 - Monday - 32° at 6 AM. Cloudy. Sun 5:42 - 6:19 Light rain noontime on. Miserable looking - not outdoor work weather. To Mass. Did the crossword - a wash. Finished Sunday papers. Brent, of Soleum Organic Soils, returned our call - delivered load of composted cow manure after lunch. Took lawn boy to Nutmeg for servicing - shears to Alpine for sharpening but they were closed. Home for a little sewing

1988 - Holy Thursday - 40º at 6:30 - Fair - beautiful. 
Wes raked rest of north slope leaves down to chipper - chipped quite a few of them. I cleaned out under azaleas on knoll and cleaned up wall garden
Left at 4 pm for White Plains - retirement party for Bob Dorsch at "Ragtime" on Main Street. Wes saw a lot of former associates. Home about 8:15 - made a visit to church.

1989 - Friday - 36º at 6 AM - Cloudy - some rain during night. To Mass. Did crossword. To Friendly Plumber for hose adapter to backwash Piper - put GM and Blackstone certificates in Safe Deposit box - to Lloyd's for topsoil and planting mix on sale - home to unload - to Greenhouse to pick up 2 pots lily bulbs for June show - Stop & Shop - home for lunch & nap - Wes in shop - I made supper - worked with plants - pruned little [[?]] - cold miserable day - thunderstorm between 5 & 6 with good rain.

1990 - Saturday - 36º at 7 AM-, Cloudy - some light rain. Point 63 in gauge (new rain gauge) from yesterday's snow, which melted before night fall.
To bank and Bethel to pick up wool samples - bulky tweed which no shop seems to have -
Took a walk - a mile - after three - walked around grounds - marsh marigolds coming out -
Time change for daylight saving

1991 - Easter - 26º at 6 AM - Fair - cold but a good day. To 8 o'clock Mass - lots of people.
Prepared house and dinner for Mary and Eileen who were here at 11:20. Wes had a fire going 
Pleasant day. We phoned Joan and Bit - both had family with them.
Eileen & Mary left at four - had a good trip home.
We took a nap - cleaned up.

1992 - Tuesday - 40º at 6 AM. Cloudy - damp - must have rained overnight. Sun (maybe this afternoon) 5:40-6:20. 
To Mass. Turned into a lovely day - sun warm - windy
Wes tried to get a haircut - shop closed at 11 - went to bank and left clippers for sharpening. We took a walk. Cut off Ribbon Grass at upper gates.
I made buttonholes in white blouse - Discovered the sleeves were too long - after I put on cuffs! Unusual
