April 7

1988 - Thursday - 40˚ at 7 AM - Cloudy - Misty - all day but no rain here. I have a sore throat. 
Did crossword - To Jeanne Cook Travel - bought tickets for limo to LaGuardia next Wednesday - bank and Grand Union - found Progresso soup on sale at 69¢ - home for lunch. Nap - planted tomato seeds. Wes in shop. [[MLG?]] here to install solar shades - didn't finish as he was not satisfied with tracking - a problem we don't think he can overcome. 

1989 - Friday - 36˚ at 6 
AM - Fair - Hooray - cold but not bad. To Mass. I had a haircut - short. We mixed Moody's planting mix and topsoil and filled up a section in dill to plant Chelone (Turtlehead) - planted Trillium and Lycares along well paths - moved small ornamental grasses along walk to North grass - put new grass in corner before big rock. We took out a lot of stone for Tony Ongaro in digging holes

1990 - Saturday - 32˚ at 7AM - Snowing - about 3 inches already! Re '88, Progresso Soup was on sale yesterday 3/$2.00 - usually Lentil is 99¢.
Snow stopped and melted quickly mid-morning when sun broke through. Did house chores - Wes in shop. 
After lunch cleaned more leaves south path - hard job under azaleas - new primulas survived the snowstorm. Picked up Helen before 7:30 & to band concert (West Point) at Highschool - met Tempanelli's there - Home 10:15.

1991 - Sunday - 58˚ at 6:23 - Daylight Saving Time - we overslept. Re past years, Progresso lentil and green pea soup now $1.19. Fair and very warm day - glad we have windows & fan in Solar. To 8 o'clock Mass.
Prepared luncheon for Anne & Frank Tracy - Helen Ross and Punkie Scott here at 12:30/3:30 - Pleasant time. Took a nap - then out to water Rhododendron on North Slope & Wood Knoll, limp in heat.
Cleaned up dishes - watched "House of Cards" on Ch. 13.

1992 - Thursday - 38˚ at 7AM. Cloudy. Sun 6:29-7:27. Did crossword. Shopped for liquor (gift of Chivas Regal to Tibor) Marcus, Stop & Shop - hope bought everything for Holmden's visit. To Church - confession and Mass. Home for lunch - nap. I made muffins - cookies - Island Chicken. We cleaned upstairs Wes cleaned leaves from garden room pool and picked up those I raked yesterday at wall garden. Joan & Hooker went to Eileen's from Whittels.

April 8

1988 - Friday - 44˚ at 6AM. Cloudy - dreary cold day - no rain - miserable weather. To Mass I worked at the greenhouse 9:45/12 - buying gasoline and taking some of our records to the Thrift Shop following. 
Wes had worked in shop. After lunch Wes had more shop time - I watered little seeds - checked material for Atlanta trip. Jim Freeman came to show us heavy wire he had bought from Sears for deer fencing. We bought 300 feet from him. 

1989 - Saturday - 38˚ at 7 AM - Must have rained overnight, but no sleet as predicted, and sun coming out - 1/2 inch rain. Not a bad day. Cold but sunny. 
I planted onions - arrived yesterday from Parks. We moved the Viburnum on the Wood Knoll to a forward portion - took the Korean [[bloc?]] from the roadside planting and planted it inside the fence near the maple. Wes will improve the drainage there. To Carolyn & Pete's to see their renovation - good work but the house is so messed up only the young could stand it. 

1990 - Sunday - 30˚ at 6:15 - cold but fair; Palm Sunday. Quarter inch in gauge from yesterday's snow 
To 8 o'clock Mass - I was Narrator, substituting for Louise McKeon. Read some papers. To Stonehenge for lunch for Sattlers and Sobols - home at 2:30 for a nap. Out to cut dead blooms from Pieris - wind strong and cold.
 
1991 - Monday - 62˚ at 7:30 Fair! Warm day - NYC reached 90˚ - didn't check ours but it was warm and windy. To Stop & Shop - Post Office doesn't have a copy machine anymore but we found a Print Shop on Route 6 where copies cost 10¢ each - to Marcus for milk still $1.69 for 1/2%. Rest of day worked around place - picking up leaves - planting lettuce and a few onion sets. We put on door screens and some windows.
 
1992 - Wednesday. 42˚ at 6:30 - Cloudy. Sun 6:27-7:28. Became beautiful day - just when Joan & Hooker arrived at 10:30.
Walked about and talked.
