April 11

1988 - Monday - 46° at 7 AM - Clear - Clouded up early - no rain.
Worked - transplanted little seedlings - threw away some - Wes went for a haircut - to bank to get cash for trip and inquire for a better check recorder. Shade installer never came. We took leaves from bushes on Wood Knoll - admired trailing arbutus there & watered it. Made out checks for taxes - a big job. 

1989 - Tuesday - 30° at 6 AM - Cloudy - cleared before 8 o'clock to a sunny even if cold day. To Mass.
Transplanted 2 Quinnipiac laurel from Wood Knoll to right side of middle path - brought up one Delaware Valley white azalea from Dell path to join them - moved Viburnum back up to laurel spot on Wood Knoll - will bring down small fir for Viburnum spot - I moved Coptis Trifolia to shady and I hope wet spot under wall in dell - put Bonica Rose in perennial garden and moved Caryopteris there. Wes phoned Dr Espy - take only one Isoptocarpine drop in left eye at night - phone him one week - not unusual to get headache from it.

1990 - Wednesday - 54° at 7 AM - Cloudy - Rained over night - Point 30. Cleared - partly sunny/cloudy. Put out traps and relocated two squirrels (10 in all). Eileen came at 11 - we drove to Redding Roadhouse - Route 107 & 53 for Texas luncheon. Home at 3 pm - walked dogs. Eileen left - we took a nap. Wes brought cow manure to bin off Solar - I dug it in. Moved couple bags topsoil to upper North end - brought down cement blocks - hope Joe Keller comes to make new planting bed there.

1991 - Thursday - 38° at 6 AM - Cool night - Needed electric blanket on again - Fair and cold and very high wind To Mass. Left at 9:30 for Atchley - Wes 11:30 appointment with Dr. Puchner - my 1 PM with Dr. Jacobs, both very good reports. Stopped at Pinchbeck enroute home - bought peat - fertilizer - rake and stiff broom. Wes had a nap - I checked on wall garden plants

1992 - Saturday - 42° at 7 AM. Cloudy To record sent off balance of money yesterday for June trip - also Newlen check to cover it finally arrived and put in bank. Drizzle most of day. Miserable - glad Holmdens had better weather here. Quiet day - Couldn't complete puzzle - too many names - cleaned up a lot of the papers. Signed and sent off our tax returns - Baccu post office - very crowded. 

April 12

1988 - Tuesday 40° at 7 AM - Clear - cloudy in afternoon - not a nice day at all. Took tax letter to post office - Wes got Lawnboy going and I cut south grass. Picked leaves from azalea around garden room. Wes cleaned leaves from pool. Packed. Shade installer never called, so Wes hung three shades in Solar. Phoned Gizella - went over seed watering with her. Wes put timers on den and bedroom lights. 

1989 - Wednesday. 36° at 7 AM - Sunny - lovely day. Cool - great for working. 
Silvestri Fencing installed stockade fencing at shed - finished at noon - looks great. Wes transplanted one more Quinnipiac Laurel from Wood Knoll to right of middle path - moved Cornus Kousa from well area to Piper area - I transplanted Shortia and Dalibarda Repens to lower part of Dell Path under laurel. Dalibarda in poor shape. Cleaned up that area. Wright applied dormant oil spray.

1990 - Holy Thursday - 32° at 6:45 - Clear but cold and windy. Wes relocated 5 squirrels - still one around - they keep coming in. We shopped Stop & Shop Marcus and bank.
George Ventris & son worked on well house. Wes moved more topsoil to North top - and brought to shed area the cement blocks - so we are ready for Joe Keller to make planting bed. 
I planted the Anemone & Gypsophila from Andre Viette near driveway

1991 - Friday - 32° at 6 AM - Fair and cold - high winds continued until night. To Mass. Wes waited for Standard Oil man to clean the boiler (came at 12 noon) I went to Post office - Marcus - Print Shop to order printed stationery for us and Stop & Shop Wes brought up Lawnboy from shed - had to clean & service it to get it started. I cut grass (high on new grass South & North patches) Wes continued on stone steps in Wild garden - I put Hollytone on Azaleas, Rhododendron where we had cleaned out leaves. 

1992 - Sunday - (Palm) 39° at 6 AM. Fog - no wind. Eagle Weathervane is in Southwest so we hope for clearing. Didnt clear - and not well - until mid afternoon - mist in morning. To 8 o'clock Mass. Read papers - did crossword. Wes cooked a lamb chop at noon for our dinner - just made it between showers. When it cleared we went outside - cleaned up Knoll top of leaves Put wire on bottom of deer wire Coming down northeast slope - wired it to the top heavy wire - no fresh deer tracks - hope we have overcome the problem 
Phoned Joan (reached home 3:15 Friday) & Bit - ok.
