April 15 

1988- Friday. Atlanta- Bus at 8:15 to Atlanta Botanical Garden - tour of garden - very beautiful despite construction of conservatory - talks on meadow gardening - water in gardens (Lily Pons) Daffodils & Woody Plants - box lunch - bus (lost way a couple times) to Atlanta Historical Society - trail in woods and quarry very interesting - bus to Waverly Hotel - nap interrupted by band in atrium - "Gone with the Wind" theme dinner in hotel - walk in Galleria - bed at 11.

1989 - Saturday - 40° at 7 AM - Good sleeping - Cloudy. To Stop & Shop early - made sandwich - left for ARGS New Haven with a stop at the bank enroute - missed turn arrived at Experiment Station about 11:15 - program on Primulas - Grasses - rained during day but only quarter inch when we arrived home at 4:30. However rained rest of evening. Made David's cookies - did crossword.

1990- Easter Sunday- 44° at 6 AM- Raining let up about noon- cleared in P.M. To 8 o'clock mass- lots of people. -Prepared for guests- Wes made a fire. Eileen & Mary here at 10:45- Eileen had picked up Mary whose car is in the shop. Carolyn - Pete. Chelsea and Barbara here at 12:45. Everyone said the dinner was good-ham-cornbread. We walked about looking at wildflowers - things are still pretty bare. They left at 5 pm. We napped. dishwasher wouldn't work so we cleaned up by hand (inch rain)

1991 - Monday - 42 degrees at 6 AM - Light rain - .60 at end of showers at night. Glad to have it. Rain cancelled first day of work at Ballard but I met Muriel Pedersen there & we planned location of sundial.
Wes & I to Stroock Bldg. Danbury Hospital, I had blood tests for Dr. Jacobs. Home for early lunch. To Ridgefield for Wes' 1 pm appointment Dr. Monroe - nose doing fine - I went to bank and cheese shop - no candied ginger  Home to clean house - Eileen and Bit coming tomorrow.

1992- Wednesday-32 degrees at 7 AM. Rose rapidly when sun came up - good to sleep in as had a poor night. Couldn't finish the crossword - they have been hard recently. We dug up the other two big grasses- to Sandy Corcoran's to drop off Autumn Joy Sedum - left grasses at greenhouse for Heidi- to Young's for birdfood and to return watering can and 2 wood rakes - too large. We straightened out the Corna Kousa plants yesterday - reversed the two Fountain Grasses put striped grass in Joe's garden - Wes brought down soil. I dug up planting box outside Solar- adding compost.

April 16

1988- Saturday- Atlanta AHS meeting - Waverly Hotel
beautiful weather - Talks in AM, on Callaway Gardens - Topiary - Bonsai - PM at Fernbank Science Center - Planetarium Display - walk thru Greenhouse - and the Woods. Return to Waverly for a drink and nap in our room - to Banquet at 8 PM - Awards presented - to bed at 11:30

1989 - Sunday - 44 degrees at 6:30 - Cloudy. had light rain during night -about 1 1/4 inches in new gauge - another 1/4 inch before ending. To 8 o'clock Mass. Read papers. To The Inn at 12:30 - took Sattlers and Tempanelli's to lunch - Very pleasant. Stopped to fill up with gasoline- $1.39 gallon before going home for a nap. Cleaned up more papers during evening. Put out small feeders under the two dome covers as squirrel had broken the other - watched him try to climb down into it but too small & he kept falling off.

 1990 - Monday - 42 degrees at 6:15 - clear. Sun 6.18-7.36 Fair beautiful day. To Mass. Washed tablecloth & napkins Wes started the chipper & finished pile of leaves at shed - then brought machine to south side near compost. I cut grass. Wright sprayed - dormant oil. The Ventrises put the roof framing on well edifice - Whit of Ridgeway Appliance Service repaired dishwasher. Wes relocated 2 squirrels - total 16. I defrosted refrigerator. Planted lettuce Eileen bought for us and 3 lily bulbs delivered by W77. Big day

1991 - Tuesday - 46° at 6 AM. Beautiful day - cool breezy. To Mass. To Stop & Shop for luncheon supplies. Eileen, Bit & dogs here at 11:30. Boo wears a collar but is getting better - her leg is shaved & she doesn't use it much. Pete, Carolyn & Chelsea came at 1:30 for a visit. They all left about three. We took a nap. Planted white Trillium bought at Greenhouse yesterday and Fountain Grass from Andre Viette. Picked up a few leaves and cut off a couple of Christmas ferns.

1992 - Holy Thursday - 36 at 6:30. Cloudy. Rain predicted Sun 6:15-737. Appointment with Dr Wiedel at 1:30. Took 9:21 train from Purdy's - subway to Bloomingdale's - bought a Orrefors Illusion wine glass for $39.00 - last one bought years ago was $22! Lunch at Le Train Bleu - very stylish place - subway to 68th Street - walked to Dr. Wiedel 109 E 67 - good report. Subway to Grand Central & a short wait for 2:45 train - we had a small yogurt - Too much - home at 4:30 - found Franklin check in mail so went to bank with it as banks closed tomorrow until Monday. Soup for supper. Rain in afternoon.
