May 9

1988 - Monday. 39˚ at 6 AM - Fair - breezy day Wes dug 18 postholes - fenceline along road above farm gate. 
I put mulch on Azalea aborescens - moved a few myrtle from step stone garden to azalea pot cut grass.  Edged perennial garden, using some grass to plug holes in lawn made by falling tree last October. Planted 3 Thalictrum dipterocarpum Lavender Mist' with others in perennial garden.

1989 - Tuesday - 40° at 6 AM - Fair - wonderful working day. Wes went to Mass. I prepared for work at Ballard - there until noon - good crew. Boxwood had been moved and the rosebushes - look good and hope they live - rather rough transplanting. Wes painted - stained - the fence until stain gave out - bought more and finished the job in afternoon - looks good He also put Belgian Blocks at entrance below mailbox I cultivated shade garden - moved couple plants - added compost. Joan called in evening. Hooker had accident with lawnmower - lost a toe & part of another

1990 - Wednesday - 48° at 6 AM. Heavy fog - cleared to a mostly beautiful day - although looked like a storm around noon. 
Wes took down another tree at holding bed area and cut up those cut down yesterday - carried brush to road. Had an hour leaf chipping in wildgarden. I put leaf mulch on day lily bed - planted the Asclepias and Trillium - (Rocknoll & not in good condition) We went to bank and to Stop & Shop.

1991 - [[strikethrough]] Holy [[/strikethrough]] Ascension Thursday 46° at 6 AM - Cloudy. Wes set up TR, then took rusted wire to Reclamation - went to bank. I planted strawberry jar with pansies To 12 o'clock Mass - I was to be Lector but Joe Beckman took over! After lunch planted pots at entrance with geraniums Put basil & parsley in veg bed - planted 2 Quik Pick tomatoes in top bed - [[strikethrough]] put pansies into strawberry ja [[/strikethrough]] - Wes put leaf mulch on well garden area

1992 - Saturday - 50° at 7 AM. Rain overnight - .30 - still misting. Still no NY Times. Goldfinch have been numerous this year - beautiful to see. Became a beautiful day - decided to work around place rather than to shop. Wes continued cleaning leaves on Northeast slope. I dug up & threw away ornamental onions that were misshapen and overproducing foliage. Moved Russian Sage from gate to front of Limber Pine. Cleaned fern bed at landing north end of deck. Ferns take time to clean and we have a lot. 

May 10

1988 - Tuesday - 48° at 6 AM - Cloudy - must have had a light shower overnight - not measurable - shower at 2 pm - cloudy + damp. Wes dropped me at Ballard - he went on to Gregory Lumber Yard to order wood fence posts - delivered in afternoon - he also picked up Enduron pills at Pharmacy. I worked with Charlotte & Muriel spreading fertilizer and chips - other girls at Zone II meeting. Wes returned & worked in garden an hour - Shopped enroute home - Wes stretched out posts by holes in P.M. 

1989. Wednesday - 47° at 7 AM - Raining - all day but gauge said just under 3/4 in. - seemed like more To Mall - bought summer bag and compact for Mary's birthday - socks & cap & gloves for Wes. Did crossword. Work wash - Knitting - cleaned up papers - Phoned Eileen & Bit re Hooker's accident - called Joan in evening - Hooker in hospital until Saturday.

1990. Thursday - 60° at 6 AM - Raining - To Mass. Rain let up a bit - to Recycling - Goodwill Bank - Youngs for chips for garden room path - Liquor Home for lunch + nap. Rained heavily in afternoon. Wrote letters - checked plant orders - Bill for Well Edifice arrived from George Ventris - $ 4,200, including doors to laundry. Just about what Wes had figured. 

1991 -  Friday - 50° at 6 AM - Light shower overnight not under trees - rain later 3/10 inch - spoiled my plan to cut the grass but glad to have it. To Mass. Packed - did final chores - early lunch - left at noon for Adamson Garden, Devean Rd, North Salem - a "plantsman's garden" - learned about yellow ladyslipper - on to [[Grese/Hottlett?]] Garden Pound Ridge (Halesia tree) on to Nobel's - bought cross container & hanger for fuchsia - to Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza - for ARG's Annual Meeting - dinner - Kalmia on table of Dick Jaynes - Broken Arrow Nursery - Hamden

1992 - Sunday 50° at 6:30 - Cloudy - rain in NYC. NY Times delivery strike continuing darn. To 8 o'clock Mass Phoned sisters and Carolyn & Pete. All well. Before noon Carolyn & Pete delivered NY Times found at a gasoline station. Wonderful. Wes cooked lamb chops on deck grill - we had a martini in Solar. nap. Read papers. To Freeman's at 4 pm to walk around admiring the daffodils - some parts of house and grounds need attention.
