June 12

1988 - Sunday - 52° at 6AM - Beautiful day - getting warmer.
To 8 o'clock Mass. To Joe Keller's to walk his garden - will bring us some plants next week.
To Punkie Scott's to dig up wild geranium and Sweet Rocket - home at noon to plant them. 
After lunch & nap - moved day lilies from Herb Bed to upper fence garden & rearranged others there.
Watered perennial garden.

1989 - Monday - in Tarrytown - Wes left for home at 8 o'clock. Walked dogs. Went to Phelphs Hospital Eileen having gall bladder operation - started about 10:15 - finished 12:15 - Dr Everhard said took out gall bladder - opened bile duct - put in tube which draws into bag - will be in hospital until Monday at least - I returned to Hendrick Lane - walked dogs - back to hospital to wait for Eileen from Recovery Room - felt very sick - Wes came down to spend night in Tarrytown. We visited Eileen - she looked better.

1990 - Tuesday - 52° at 6AM - Sunny - cool early - became warm. Wes went to Mass. prepared for Ballard work - good crew - Brent Ryan - Peggy's 15 yr. old son - worked. Garden looked beautiful Wes cleaned walk near well. Relocated 2 squirrels (Nos 27 & 28)
Went to Mall after lunch - Wes bought cap - I bought Reeboks and a cotton knit skirt. Home to edge shade garden - Wes finished path behind shade garden where he had raised it. Had made azalea cuttings in morning 

1991 - Wednesday - 65° at 7 AM. Fair - thunderstorm in afternoon - .45 inches - thought much more as very heavy at times - (especially in Ridgefield) I prepared for The Passing Committee Garden Show - Wes worked on water line - early lunch - I left at 1 PM for Keeler Tavern - Garden Club members brought in potted entries - storm before we finished - rain very heavy - glad to get home safely at 4:30. Wes had to quit work at 3:30. In evening picked flowers which will enter in show. Many down in rain.

1992 - Friday - 54° at 6AM. Sunny. Cool night Warm sun but nice breeze so beautiful day. To Mass. I had a haircut at ten o'clock. Wes went for gasoline for the can. Reversed the blue and yellow/green Hosta from Garden Room and East Path to top. Put leaf mulch on triangle bed at well - also on Daylily/Hosta bed upper lawn inside fence. Wes cooked lamb chops for dinner.

June 13

1988 - Monday - 62° at 6:15 - Hazy - Report for hot! It was in the sun - 92° in NYC - about 88° here but not bad in the shade.
Wes stained most of the wood from above barn gate. 
We paid Federal taxes and car insurance. Transferred 10,000 to 6 month CD at 8% in Bridgeport Bank Mart. I went to Stop & Shop - home to transplant herbs in Rhubarb corner - pulled out lots of mint - put leaf chips on ferns in crack in rock above Piper - cocktail on deck.

1989 - Tuesday - spent night in Tarrytown - rained overnight - Eileen in hospital
Wes left for home at 8 - he spread mulch on North Slope - went to bank - picked up pants at Wallach's - Marcus.
I visited Eileen at Phelps at 11 o'clock - then drove home. Went to town to arrange tickets to Minneapolis from Jeanne Cook Travel - shopped Gran Central - Spent night with Wes.

1990 - Wednesday - 50° at 6 AM - Sunny - cool Became a warm day. - hot in the sun.
Wes took car to Honda for the 30,000 mile checkup. He worked at paths at well area & spread leaf mulch there - started path to holding bed area. I put the Herb pots for the Litchfield Sept. show in holding beds - buried Norfolk pine . Wright did second summer spray. I had a haircut. Trimmed wall garden.

1991 - Thursday - 52° at 6 AM - Great change in the weather. Cool and sunny. No Mass as I left at 7:30 for Keeler Tavern Barn. Passing for Horticulture - lots of entries to the show. Home at 1:15. Wes worked on water line to North top - went to Eastern Pump to have one hydrant cut down - installed it and the water flowed to the two hydrants! I cut grass - edged sun garden. Picked up Helen Ross and to Keeler Tavern for Preview Party - won firsts for Rosemary Ring & Clerodendron - all marigolds except one they said were bug damaged.

1992 - Saturday. 62° at 7 AM. Fair.
To Garden Conservancy Garden Tour - met Eileen at Baxter Road at 10 - saw Page Deckey's garden - to White Meadows Farm - gorgeous - 200' perennial border - Pool & Rose gardens - views of Cross River Reservoir & Pound Ridge Reservation - Then Steepway Farm - lots of garden ornaments (both gardens Katonah) then over Cross River Down to de la Renta House - Woodland walks - ferns - oceans of pacysandra (Katonah) last one was John & Penelope Maynard's - steep mountain (Mt. Aspetong) beautiful areas - stonework - huge Hostas. Home at 3:30. Cut grass
