June 16

1988 - Thursday - 68° at 6 AM - HHH - high was 90 Hope for thunderstorm. Solar shade man here 9:30/3:30 - shades look good Vee Grenier washed windows - will return Oct. 5th Wes cut out saplings inside upper fence - mounded stones there - edged above wall garden - put cedar log along path driveway to upper lawn - 
I edged, cultivated - cleaned weeds from garden room.

1989 - Friday - 56° at 6 AM - Foggy - misty 1/2 inch rain overnight. Walked dogs. To Mass. Did a wash - to Stop + Shop - Youngs for birdfood. $33 for 40 lbs! Graham Crackers were $2.19! - picked up plants from Muriel Pedersen. Won Second for Myrtle. HM for allium - lunch - nap - to Tarrytown Grand Union for David's cookies - only had three - Alters for lots of bread - saw Eileen at hospital- xray of bile tube tomorrow + Maybe home Sunday - to Ridgefield - cocktail in garden room in sunshine!! - Thunderstorm at night

1990 - Saturday - Sunny and warm - Straightened up after party. Transplanted anemone from Knoll to north slope. Jun Bruns came to go over peg board for garage and grass cutting etc. while we're away. Eileen here at 2 pm and we went to Chelsea Blackwell's birthday party - lots of people - home at 4:45. Picked up Wes' pictures at Stop + Shop - some very good. to Mall bought shirt for Wes and black purse for me.

1991 - Sunday - HHH - Kelly + Barbara with us Barbara went with us to 8 o'clock Mass - breakfast on deck following.  Kelly had a migraine headache - not able to function. Carolyn + Pete came + Carolyn drove Kelly's car to her house. 
We read papers - napped - thunderstorm in afternoon - two of them - but only 1/10 inch rain - very disappointing.

1992 - Tuesday - 50° at 6 AM. Fair. Cool night No Mass as I left early - bought bird food at Youngs Worked at Ballard, with a good crew, until 11:30. Home to shower - return to Ridgefield Inn for luncheon as guest  Petey Cerf - Hope Swenson + Dolly Wittman also there. Home at 3. took Carolina Rhododendron to Anne Tracy - she takes entries tomorrow to Zone II meeting. Wes had cleaned up ivy area at well where deer came in winter had made a mess - looked wonderful when he finished.


June 17

1988 - Friday - 64° at 6 AM - Cloudy - Slight shower at 4 AM - no hoped for rain. Texaco Annual meeting To Mass. To Stop + Shop. Recycling with papers and bottles - gasoline - Olivers - Fairfield area very beautiful with laurel - home for lunch + nap - moved our's from garden room to well area also - watered and weeded plants there - cooler at evening but disappointed no rain. Drought in Mid-West.

1989 - Saturday - 66° at 6 AM - Partly cloudy. I saw the sun coming up but it clouded over quickly + showered. 1 1/4 inches in gauge at 8 AM. Incredible! Cleared to a warm sunny day - we worked outdoors. Wes transplanted two Quinnipiac laurels from lower wood knoll to north slope - the last of the laurels on the Knoll. I deadheaded - cut grass at noon - edged - transplanted some Iris crestata along middle path - getting crowded under Bakery Azalea - Walked dogs - Chelsea Blackwell born - Eileen to be released from hospital tomorrow. Chelsea Blackwell born. 

1990 - Sunday. 60° at 6 AM - Fair - warm day. To 8 o'clock Mass. Made Rhododendron Wilsoni cuttings. Watered holding bed area. Put potted plants on south terrace for watering while we are away. Wes cleaned up [[St. Feacre?]] walk - brought down top soil for crack off raised grass walk behind shade garden. Picked up Kelly, Carolyn + Chelsea from Mountain Road as they became lost on Hemlock Hills trails

1991 - Monday - 70° at 7:30 - HHH. Light rain about 1 pm. not measurable - more at 5 pm. George Ventris brought information on Morgan doors for our decision. Maybe three weeks delivery. Wes worked all day grading paths etc. at top water line - used up all [[?]] called top soil. I went to Mrs Cerf's luncheon at the Inn - home at 2:30. cut grass. Wes was watering the upper slope. 

1992 - Wednesday - 60° at 7 AM. Warm + more humid. Did a wash. Wes took car to [[Rovae?]] Tire Co. about low front tire - learned both fronts cranking -  went back after lunch for two new ones - $212.00 - glad problem solved. I ironed - packed (taking too much I bet) Deadheaded.
