June 20

1988 - Monday - 64° at 6 AM - To be HHH - it was - warmer at night but still a nice breeze, 
I watered the rhododendrons at the back of the Garden Room and the plants along the front walk.
We planned to shop at Mall - but decided to put the wire on the fence up the road - took most of day but looks better than we feared it would. Wes needs to buy work shoes but glad he didn't take time to shop for them. I cut south grass - beginning to brown

1989. Tuesday. Wes in Ridgefield - I was in Tarrytown with Eileen- she is doing well. I came to Ridgefield mid-morning - voted against budget (it passed this time) watered terrace + hanging plants - had lunch with Wes + returned to Tarrytown.
Eileen rented VCR Jean de Fleurette.

1990 - Seattle - AHS meeting - Wednesday
Continental breakfast - talks in morning on Freeway Park - Olmsted Influence in Northwest - Chinese garden now under construction - lunch in hotel - bus to Bainbridge Island for tour of Bloedel Reserve - 150 acre reserve - gardens - Japanese tea house - moss garden - beautiful French-style house - strawberries and local wine served - to Kiana Lodge - gardens - right on Puget Sound. Salmon roast dinner.

1991 - Thursday. 65° at 5 AM. Up earlier as I go to new Canaan to work on Passing Committee their show - Left at 6 for Muriel Pedersen's - she drove - reached Waveny House at 6:50. I entered Rosemary Ring - Propagated Azalea atlanticum and Cardinal flower + 3 cut flowers. Worked on Passing Committee (ground covers) until 9:45 - home at 11 for a nap - lunch. Wes had continued weeding upper N. E. slope - finished by day's end. I shopped Stop + Shop + joined Wes in weeding. Hot humid afternoon.

1992 - Saturday - (W's notes) 65° at 7 AM - gloomy. gray misty - sun at 2 - downpour at 3 - total .43. When cooking soup in microwave - vents in cover plugged - blew up - a mess. G - Denver - Brown Palace Hotel - visited Denver Botanical Garden - luncheon served at Botanical Garden House Terrace - Visited private gardens - (.*) m/m Philip Hayward - borders of beautiful color combinations ( Spuria Iris) Dr + Mrs Reed Johnson slopes beautifully planted down to large pond + (31 m/m make McLaughlin - rock garden - veg. garden - obedient dog. Back to hotel to dress + dinner at Cliff Young' - Crystal Room - bus back to hotel + bed.

June 21

1988 - Tuesday. 70° at 6 AM - HHH - Terrible weather. I worked at Ballard in morning - Muriel Pedersen, Charlotte Crosley and Edith Meffley - deadheaded and trimmed + watered. Wes had put in 2 panels on upper fence - wire just couldn't cover the third - frustrating. He put a cedar log along path to North grass, finishing that nicely. I watered everything on South side. Warm evening but cooled off during night.

1989. Wednesday - Wes in Ridgefield - I was in Tarrytown with Eileen. Window workers came 8 AM - did inside but rain prevented doing outside. Wes balanced books. He started clearing upper holding bed area. I drove Eileen to Dr. Everhard in Briarcliff (surgeon) He took out her tube. come back July 12th. She rented Manon of the Spring - VCR - Wonderful. (Window workers finished Thursday AM.)

1990 - Thursday - Seattle - AHS Meeting - Tried breakfast in hotel cafe - good food - terrible talkative waiter - talk on Rhododendron + Perennial - bus to Washington Park Arboretum - Center for Urban Horticulture - walked the 3/4 mile Azalea Way to Japanese Garden - bus to Mrs Pendleton Miller's Garden - first thing in morning had walked in Free - way Park Garden - 6 acre garden built over a highway - dinner in restaurant near ferry slip - very steep hills

1991 - Friday - 59° at 6 AM - Cool night for sleeping after yesterday's heat - Became a very warm day. To Mass. Wes picked up repaired Lawnboy at Nutmeg. I cut the grass. Lifted the Hemlocks at deck and east path - Wes had a big job cutting up the branches and carting away. [[crossed out]] Early [[/crossed out]] Late lunch - nap - shower - to new Canaan Waveny House to pick up our four entries - all Blues - Rosemary Ring - Azalea alanticum 2 yr propagation - Cardinal Flower last summer's propagation - 3 cut flowers - Heliopsis', Mrs Lingard - Snapdragon. Dropped off Louise McKeon's 2 Entries.

1992 - Sunday - (W's notes) Summer arrived 5:19 PM. 56° at 6 AM - Partly cloudy, Brunch with Mary at Levanos White Plains, - home 3:30 - cut grass - sandwich supper.  G in Denver! Luggage outside room Brown Palace at 9 - Break. fast in Central City Room 6:15/7:45. At 8 left by bus for Rocky Mountain National Park - where enjoyed seeing many wild flowers above snow line - picnic lunch in park - 3 deer joined + one woman fed them - Late afternoon arrival at Sheraton Hotel - Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Western Cookout on hotel pool deck.
