September 18

1988 Sunday - 58° at 6AM - Overcast morning but cleared to a good day - warmer. To 8 o clock Mass. Wes had trouble with contact lens - Turned out the two were stuck together . 
Edged perennial - brought in compost and peat - relayed stepping stones - moved a couple Heuchera. Filled hole on wood knoll where Hemlock was.
To Sobols at 6 for dinner - Tempanellis - Kellers. Alice and Frank Marshall - home at 10:30.

1989 - Monday - 60° at 6AM. Misting. Left at 8:30 for the Cape - 84 to Mass Pike (90) to 495. Bourne Bridge. Toured Heritage Plantation in Sandwich - admired Hosta Collection - Herb Gardens - colorful annuals - everything in great shape. To Hyannis. scouted the ferry to Martha's Vineyard for tomorrow - to Hyannis Regency Inn - Ginger Dienst came & took us to dinner at the Captains table - Hyannis Yacht Club - (she drove - we paid)

1990 - Tuesday - 42° at 6AM.. Fair - cold beautiful day. To Mass. No frost on our tomatoes - we had covered them. I worked at Ballard with Muriel. Wes continued clearing Northeast slope - looking better all the time. 
Chimney cleaner did both chimneys.
I cut down cimicifuga - quite mildewed
Edged grass edges.
Made plum tarte and bran muffins

1991 - Wednesday - 64° at 7AM. Thunderstorm at 6:30AM - 1/10 - glad to have it for our grass seed. Shopped Stop & Shop. Eileen brought up the Bird's Nest Spruce from her garden - she didn't stay. We moved the Tom Thumb Cotoneaster to west end of new Ongaro wall and planted the Birds nest Spruce on East end. Andy Vell put on the grub control - hope for rain tonight. Wes finished regraded flagstone wall off deck - weeded cliff walk. I moved "Bitsy" day lily and Japanese Painted fern.

1992 - Friday - 66° at 7AM - Home from Lake George. Hazy - warm. Wrote to Tom and Mary Hanley - paid dues to Texaco Retirees but regretted meeting in Essex on 23rd 
Picked huge amount of beans - some cherry tomatoes. 
Wes picked up stones taken from holes made on Northeast slope - cut root out of one hole we didn't use. He cut down the clethea at step garden top - root to come out later - I cut all grass except outside fence. Freddy Frog pump stops after couple hours - we'll get new pump.
Quiet on Bogus - Vargas in Hawaii.

September 19

1988 Monday - 62° at 8:15 - Breakfast after Mass
Foggy - cleared to a sunny warm day - humid
To Mass.  Wes had a haircut. I shopped Waldbarrens. Then I went to Ridgefield to buy buckets for Keeles Tavern House Tour Saturday - make copy of Medicare letter re payment of Dr. Savetsky's bill never received. Cut south grass. Wes fixed up North gate (holding bed) I edged and watered Wes cooked a good lamb chop

1989 - Tuesday - In Cape Cod. Breakfast at Hyannis Regency - took 9:30 ferry to Martha's Vineyard - lots of people. Ricky & Jim Harrison met us there - drove to their home in Edgartown - admired all their work and gardens. had clam chowder and lobster roll for lunch at Menemsha - admired Edgartown Village - back to Oak Bluffs for 3:45 ferry to Hyannis - very foggy rough water. Dinner at Regency Inn. 
1990 - Wednesday - 42° at 8Am. Slept late - good fair morning - cloudy afternoon - raindrops late in day. Rain during night quarter inch. 
To Welton Stationers to pick up stationery for sisters' birthdays -. Stopped at Marcus enroute home.
Wes put topsoil over Cimicifuga beds. We transplanted two Sedum Autumn Joy and the Caryopteries into new beds off driveway.

1991 - Thursday - 73° at 6AM - Cloudy-slight shower at 4:30AM. To Mass. Wes dropped me at Mariel Pedersen's (took Rigoletto Dahlias 4 for zone II meeting) With Dolly Whitmas we went to Elden Hughes garden Redding Ridge - beautiful. Wes went to Dr. Sandler app. good come back in four months. After lunch to Nutmeg Plumbing, picked out sink for Wes' Johnny. faucet for [satcher?] and hand shower for bath. To Mall I had a haircut - bought ginger at Williams Sonoma- Andy Vell had picked up brush - light rain all day. 

1992- Saturday - 70° at 7AM. Cloudy - Showers at 5AM Cleared to a mostly fair day - cooler in afternoon.
To Otto Guest - bought new pump for Freddy Pool - and to S.S. Jim Redmond's bill for pool repair(?) finally came in. Wes dug up triangle near pump house and moved two shrubs to better positions. I cut down perennials in sungarden and pulled up some cleome
To Billie Heiwell's at 4:30 for a drink - home at 6:10 
Made reservation for family trip on Conn. River 10/7.
