October 22

1988 - Saturday - In  Tarrytown with Eileen - still misting. After breakfast went to Grand Union for David's Cookies and Schraffts Lemon Sherbert. - Good ride home - had 1.65 inches rain here - glad of it.
I made David's chocolate cookies - Tavern Bars & Pineapple muffins - Wes in shop. After lunch I cut down more perennials - pulled up Salvia Victoria and Marigolds - raked leaves - very wet - Wes carried them to leaf piles

1989- Sunday - 42° at 6 AM - Dark - Mostly cloudy day - cool - cleared late afternoon.
To 8 o'clock Mass. Prepared lunch for Eileen - here at 11:30 with dogs - bulbs from Van Engelin  - bread from the baker who has taken over Alters - it was good especially a round wheat and the good old pumpernickel. She left about 2:30. We napped; then put deck furniture in hayloft (first time there) fuchsia into crawlspace and upstairs bath - threw Geraniums on compost - picked up leaves from deck.

1990 - Monday - 50° at 6:30 - Ate breakfast after Mass - cloudy - foggy - looked like rain all day.
Wes took cardboard packing of the plant light to Recycling - also papers & bottle - bought peat at Youngs - contact lens washing solution - [[strikethrough]] bananas [[/strikethrough]] Had car washed and vacuumed. Then we went to bank. Gasoline and Stop & Shop. Cleaned up front walk of leaves I put away big dahlias in crawlspace. Dutch Bulbs delivered. Worked on erecting plant light stand - all but the lights finished, Its big

1991 - Tuesday - 40° at 7:15 - Fair Saw a deer on cliff top - had noticed plants eaten yesterday near shed area on north top - darn. Later noticed hoof prints in various spots in garden. To Stop & Shop. Marcus and bank. Decided too nice a day to go to the Newtown movie. Worked around place - cutting down perennials raking leaves - cut almost all of shade garden and perennial garden

1992 - Thursday. 42° at 7 AM. Fair. Breakfast after mass. Couldn't finish crossword. Moved Clerodendron Plant upstairs from Solar. To Dr Monroe for follow up on Wes' skin cancer - come back in month to check mouth sores. 
Discovered cheese shop closed when we wanted to buy sandwich 
Outside work in afternoon - cut all grass - raked south lawn at end of mowing - cut grass north [[bays?]] - put some leaves on northeast slope around laurel etc - cleaned rock face of west slope - pulling leaves into bottom hollow. World Series Toronto Bluejays / Atlanta Braves now 3 to 2.

October 23

1988 - Sunday - 41° at 7 AM - cloudy - No 8 o'clock Mass as dedication of Parish Center and Father Medynski's 40th Anniversary celebration to follow 11:30 Mass - After dedication, luncheon in McKeon Hall - didn't get home until 4:15. Quick nap - then to Billie Newell's at 5:15 for a cocktail party - home at 7:30. Watched " A Perfect Spy" and "Jack the Ripper".

1989 - Monday - 40° at 6 AM - Fair beautiful day 60° in afternoon. No Mass as Wes took car to Honda for right front door repairs. Rented Ford Escort for 3 days. Muriel Pedersen picked me up and we worked with Edith Meffley at Ballard Garden until 11:30 when Wes picked me up He had had a haircut - went to bank & Reclamation and picked up red wine. After lunch Wes finished cold frame. I cut grass (looks good cleared & green) we moved deck table into solar - Wes put on front storm door - raked leaves.

1990 - Tuesday - 60° at 7 AM - Foggy - rain.
Leaving for Syracuse - Eileen here at 10, after leaving dogs in kennel - we left at 10:30 - 84 to Taconic to Thruway light rain on Taconia then heavy and difficult driving. Arrived safely at Genesee Inn about 3:30 and then to Kelly's for dinner - Joan & Hooker & Bit there and John came for dinner. Back to Inn at 10:30 - driving at night not bad because of street lights but rain continued

1991 - Wednesday - 42° at 7 AM - Sun coming up. Beautiful day - up to 68° - no wind either.
Plumber Bob Dinley changed Wes' shop basin, the kitchen faucet and shower head and handheld shower - took all day. Wes raked and blew leaves. I cut down perennials - brought compost to fill depressions in garden - raked leaves. Picked up my silver earring at Jane Jessup's - it was a bit out of shape and has a dent but I'm glad to have it back - 

1992 - Friday 34° at 7 AM. Fair. Breakfast after Mass. Beautiful day - good for working. To S&S and before lunch Wes went to Marcus and bank.
Raked leaves and cut down more perennials in afternoon. Sobols asked us to go to dinner at Silvano's - Route 100. When we went to drive to their house found the left rear tire was flat. Sobols picked us up. Good dinner & we returned to Sobols to see "Washington Week". Bruce had taped it. Home at 10:15
