November 1

1988 - Tuesday - 35° at 7AM. Light rain - amazing after beautiful day & night yesterday - became heavy lasted all day. Wes' hand is a little better. He rested it most of the day. I wrote letters - did knitting to 12 noon. Mass for All Saints Day. Had martini for relaxation and a long nap after hot soup. Completed the crossword early - it was an easy one - and we had all day to work it -

1989 - Wednesday - 52° at 7AM - High wind - sun 1 1/4 inches rain in gauge. 
Blew leaves from South side - cut grass - looks good green. Planted minor bulbs. 
To noon Mass - After lunch Wes took leaf blower to Young's to remove ring holding filter - he hadn't been able to restart it - I went on to bank with telephone dividends and for cash. Return home to rake and blow more leaves. Not clean yet, but better. Cooler at evening

1990 - Thursday - 38° at 7AM - Cloudy - off & on but mostly fair - milder. Wes raked on South slope and put all leaves/sticks along deer fence there to start extension of our planting area. I planted last of Dutch bulbs going outside. Confirmed Wes' Dr Brook's appointment next Tuesday and mine with Dr. Joseph on the 7th.
To noon mass for All Souls Day. Muriel came at 2:30 & we went to New England Craft Center - spoke to Otto Gust about a Sundial for Ballard Garden - he gave us small squirrels

1991 - Friday - 53° at 7AM. Cloudy damp day but not cold. Wes started leaf chipper early in the Wild Garden - did a lot of leaves - then metal rod from rake jammed it. Phoned Young's - may pick it up tomorrow. Too bad. I raked front walk - house/shed path. To 12 noon for All Saints Day. After lunch I cut grass to blow leaves - raked cut dow two of 'Autumn Joy" Sedum. Lot of leaves still up there but looking neater.

1992 - Sunday . 40° at 6AM . Cloudy - some sun in afternoon. To 8 o'clock Mass. 
Wes started the chipper and finished the pile in the wild garden. After lunch ran out of gas so did a lot of racking and made another pile in wildgarden. I cut down Solomon Seal around oak behind the garden room and at walk to holding beds. Second and last of Memento Mari - funny - Ch. 13. 
Watched some of N.Y. Marathon during lunchtime. 
Still a lot of leaves up there. Have never seen so many.

November 2

1988 - Wednesday - 40° at 6AM - 1.75 rain in gauge. Fair - turned quickly to cloudy, rainy day. To Mass 
To Norwalk Maritime Center - interesting boats - aquarium - Imax theatre. Stopped at Designer Fabric Shop enroute - will return there. Home for late lunch - long nap High winds blowing leaves

1989 - Thursday - 40° at 6AM - Partly cloudy - cleared to a good day - cool - needed jacket to work. To Mass. Raked and blew leaves. Unbelievable how many there are. Moved a lot of them to the various huge piles 
Wes went for more gasoline for the can - bought milk at Marcus. I put 2 bowls of paper whites in Attic No. 1 - another one in solar.

1990 - Friday - 48° at 6AM - Beautiful sunrise - To be warm - it was. To Mass. Struggled with crossword. Shopped at Stop & Shop. I planted forcing bulbs. Wes cut down three trees outside fence at Judson line - dead limb was hung up in one, so our view from kitchen is now much better. We cut up the branches and left them on ground.

1991 - Saturday - 54° at 7AM - Cloudy - Mist overnight Damp day. To Jesse Lee Methodist Church Hall for flu shot - many people but well organized - no pain in arm. Young picked up leaf chipper. We raked leaves from North daylily border. Cultivated grass out of planting bed above wall garden - decided to move Procumbens Nana there in spring. To "Little Man Tate after lunch - at North Street Theatre - good - home for a nap. Israeli-Arab Peace Conference in Madrid -

1992 - Monday - 33° at 7:15 - Cloudy - rain predicted - Wes started leaf chipper - after retightening gasoline tank & putting heater on. He finished the pile in the wildgarden at noon just when rain started. I had raked & carried leaves to the chipper. 
To Youngs of Ridgefield for new spout for big gasoline can - filled up the cans at Mobil - to bank & home.
