November 3

1988- Thursday- 40° at 7 am. Fair- Windy. Wind had blown leaves from grass! Looked nice & green but loads of leaves in corners. Did a wash- Wes had a haircut while I shopped Waldbaums - stopped at Bank and fabric store near Marcus - I bought a Vogue pattern for a shirt waist dress. After lunch out to cut down more perennials - the ’Autumn Joy’ Sedum - raked some leaves - Cleaned off deck and emptied Ross netting over the Freddy pool.

1989 - Friday - 46° at 6 am. Rain - very light until mid day. Only 1/4 inch- gloomy, cloudy, cold in afternoon. No outdoor work. Wes in shop. 
I went to bank - new fish store near Grand Union, bought salmon fillet - shopped Grand Union - Home for lunch. After we went to Waldbaum as there were no bananas at Grand Union. 
Enjoyed Washington Week in Review and "Our Town"- Thornton Wilder on Channel 13. 

1990 - Saturday - 52° at 6:45. Fair. We are learning the new Braun coffee pot - drip method. 
Beautiful day- high just over 70°. Wes blew and raked leaves. I cut down most of shade garden and some of fence garden. Cut grass. It was covered again with leaves immediately. Watched bulldogs which had been at Vargas move the front landing stone at Judson's. I raked and cut grass (?) along road. Kelly visiting at Carolyn and Pete's for the weekend. 

1991 - Sunday - 46° at 6 am. Cloudy - became a beautiful day. Warm in Solar at noon. To 8 o'clock Mass. Raked leaves on deck and cliff path. Raked them over the cliff. Wes cooked potatoes and chicken kabob on grill. Potatoes good  - chicken dry. Need to marinate more. 
Raked more leaves after noon dinner. 
Phoned Joan - Bit was not in today - Mary was at wedding in Connecticut.

1992 - Tuesday - Election Day. 44° at 6:15. Went to vote, intending to come back to Mass, but long line voting prevented attending Mass. Raining, Miserable day. To cleaners - Marcus S&S - Had 3 of Wes' prescriptions filled. Lunch. To Bank & Lenscrafters for new glasses for me. Walked about the mall, bought articles at CVS. Tea and hot chocolate there while waiting for glasses. 
Watched election results on Channels 13 and 2. Clinton declared winner about 11pm.

November 4

1988 - Friday - 34° at 6 pm. Fair until late PM when clouded up. To Mass. Wes had shop hour. I cut down the Aruncus and remaining Astilbe in the shade garden- planted tulips at entrance to garden room and left of front gate.  lunch. Gizella and I went to Investment Seminar by Prudential - Bache at Ethan Allen Inn - home at 3:30 to rake leaves. Wes had blown leaves on south side. To Punkie Scott’s at 6:30 for dinner - Sattlers & Tempanellis there. Wes had upset stomach- didn't eat.

1989 - Saturday - 32° at 6:45. Fair - beautiful day, cold but sunny. Wes couldn't get the leaf shredder going - called Young - mechanic next week. Luckily it started after lunch and he shredded leaves all afternoon on the well area. We raked leaves from steps to knoll and on the front bank and half of wall garden. Japanese maple had dropped in a lump and luckily not much wind to blow them. I planted most of bulbs and 4 pots of forcing bulbs. Hands cold late afternoon. 

1990 - Sunday - 52° at 6 AM. Partly cloudy/clear not as warm as yesterday. To 8 o'clock Mass. Wes made out contribution checks -  Cleared up desk. I cleaned out Freddy pool of leaves. Copied recipes. We phoned girls. Picked up Helen Ross and went to Waccabuc for lunch as guests of Mark and Millicent Sattler. 10 people at the table. Good time and lots of food. Home at 3 for a nap. Moved leaf chopper from wild garden to upper gate area (well area).

1991 - Monday - 38° at 7:15 - Good to sleep in. Cloudy. Never cleared as forecast but possible to work. 
Took down heavy bell over Wild Garden path. Cut off that small limb - rehung bell on holder on tree on cliff path. Shopped stop and shop. Wes went for a hair cut. (Barber going to Florida Jan, Feb, Mar). To bank with telephone dividends. Cleaned up Garden Room. Put more water in pool= Cut down miniature day lilies under terrace wall. Wes raked in shed area. 

1992 - Wednesday - 48° at 7 am. Foggy, Misty, Rain predicted Election popular vote Clinton 43%, Bush 38%, Perot 18%. Dodd elected - unfortunately so was Gary Franks. 
Raked leaves around and in Garden Room. Carried them to low spot along road - trimmed bushes there. 
To Ridgefield Thrift Shop - left articles - saw church history display in Town Hall. To Youngs of Wilton to buy 3 Leucothoe Catawbiesse Compacta (2 for Eileen) and 6 Fall crocus at a special price because past blooming.
