November 19

1988 - Saturday - 34° at 6 AM - Partly cloudy - gloomy day but good for our purpose. Left at 8 AM - picked up Mrs Hedie Wegler at 224 Branchville Road and drove to Conn. Agricultural Experiment Station, New Haven, for meeting of Rock Garden Society, speaker Howard Pfeifer on Mountain Flowers of The West - our sandwich lunch - then business meeting. left at 2:30 for home - toured Mrs. Wegner's  cottage & grounds  - 40 acres owned by her brother Henry Leir. lots of help building stone rip rap around ponds. Picked up Wes' watch at Addessi - home at 4:45.

1989 - Sunday. 28° at 6 AM - Coldest to date - clear sky - beautiful day - cold. To 8 o'clock Mass. We chipped leaves - morning and afternoon - did a lot of them. I did a little sewing on white blouse - worked with house plants. Called Holendens & Bet - Joan & Hooter have a new dog. Wes cooked lamb chops for noon dinner I went to Keeler Tavern - talk on Mark Twain by Mrs. William R. Hearst - Stopped at Stop & Shop for milk, etc. Carolyn Blackwell asked to come here for Thanksgiving.

1990 - Monday - 30° at 7 AM - Fair - sunny - cold windy. Did a wash.  To Unions Trust to term over Investment Savings Account - interest 7.75 down from 8% - to Recycling - to Youngs for fertilizer - up Rte 7 to Marcus - then Stop & Shop - Lunch - Wes put fertilizer on grass after I cut it - last time. I cut down Ribbon Grass outside fence - we cleaned up that area - trimmed Eunonymaus [[Euonymus]] at mailbox to improve view of road. Sylvestre here at 4:30 to estimate gate between fence and shed.

1991 - Tuesday - 40° at 6:40 - overslept - breakfast after Mass - Beautiful day.

I went to Garden Club meeting at St Stephen's North Hall. Joanne Spence arranged holiday decorations - home for lunch. Wes had started leaf chipper and worked at shed pile - continued there in afternoon. I cleaned up leaves along road, taking them in wheelbarrow to north woods - Cut off big grass in front of lumber pine - will move that [[strikethrough]]  am [[/strikethrough]] Spring (the grass), cleaned leaves from wall garden. 

1992 - Thursday - 32° at 6:30, Fair until late PM. To Mass To S&S - Wes bought suet on special order Hooray. To Union Trust Safe Deposit to take out Tax Exempt Securities Trust 42CT - calling it for redemption. Lunch & nap - spent afternoon raking and carrying leaves - the Piper area -


November 20

1988 - Sunday. 42° at 6:15 - Raining -  all day about 2.55 inches in all - heavy at times and a strong wind at night. To 8 o'clock Mass. 

Wes spent all morning on balancing checkbook - turned out we had $500 more than we recorded!

To Alex & Helen's for a drink at 4 o'clock. lots of fog but made it safely

1989 - Monday - 38° at 6 AM - Cloudy - dark. Light rain part of morning - cold and damp - cleared toward evening - Baromater [[Barometer]] very low. 

To Mass. Took glasses to Lens Crafters for repair - left home prescription for new glasses but learned they give 20% discount on Weds - to bank for cash - shoemaker not open on Mondays. to Waldbarems - to Pharmacy - Couldn't pick up Wes' eyedrops as they have to call Dr. Espy - Made Cranberry relishes - took a walk to Allen's (1 mile) Wes balanced checkbook. 

1990 - Tuesday - 32° at 6 AM - Cloudy - cleared mid-morning - sunny but still windy. To Mass - I ironed. Wes went to Doctors Brook and James - blood pressure good - come back in January for face spots. After lunch we worked outdoors & Wes spread last of fertilizer on north grass - put remainder of composted manure on holding beds - I started clean-up of wall garden. To Reversal of Fortune with Timpanelli's at 6:45 - Home & bed at 9:30.

1991 - Wednesday - 49° at 7 AM. Far [[fair]] beautiful warm day - over 70°. Wes put hangers on pipe in crawl space. To Tarrytown at 10:30 - admired Eileen's painting job - new back fence & plants - picked up 2 large boxes of H O Oatmeal - buy plants for our powder room and pot of real roy she gave us - on to Mary's where we admired her reupholstered loveseat and slip covers on couch and chair - she gave us lunch - home at 4 pm-

1992 - Friday - 26° at 7 AM - Fair. To Mass. Went to see Louise McKeoa's Christmas Cookies - pink & beautiful After breakfast and crossword I took certificate to send registered to U.S. Trust - to Marcus for milk & eggs - we don't eat many eggs nowadays but had an omelet for lunch. After a nap raked leaves - Wes on north slope - I on the cliff path. Finished the Piper area - beautifully clean at least for now.
