December 1

1988 - Thursday. 34° at 6:45- Beautiful morning. Wes did not go to Mass as his cold is worse - I did.
To town for gasoline - bank - dry run to find 194 West Lane where I will help hostess tomorrow -  cleaners for Wes' slacks - Stop & Shop - lunch - nap - squirrel is reaching both birdfeeders - hung another dome over one bowl to try to foil him - raked some leaves on north slope - we took a mile walk - cold but good to clear our heads

1989 - Friday - 23° at 6 AM - Sunny. cold beautiful day. I went to Mass - Wes in the blowing stage of his cold. We left at 10:30 - bought gas at Texaco Route 6 - on to White Plains - I went to Bloomingdales - Wes onto Sam's Gidney Way to meet Bob Dorsch - Lou Strahl and Ray Brady - (Eddie Teclaw, Detra Schneider - Marge Kane died this year) Bought nothing but underwear for Wes at Bloomingdale's. I had lunch there - home at 3:15 - nap. Opened up Christmas tree delivered yesterday by Sunrise County Evergreens Maine - put it in pail of water in garage.

1990 - Saturday - 31° at 7 AM. Fair - Re 1987 - Oatmeal at Grand Union is 2.79. Grand Central is out of business. Federal gasoline tax rises 5 cents [[cents symbol]] today. Wes' left leg very sore - rested all day. We did the crossword - hard - I removed leaves from one section of wall garden. Lunch in Solar - almost 80°! Wes napped on den sofa - sunny & warm there. I did more wall garden leaves in PM.

1991 - Sunday. 59° at 6 AM. Raining. We both had a poor night. I coughed a lot - Wes had to get up and couldn't sleep. Re past years - Grand Union doesn't carry the big box of Old Fashioned Oats - no store around here does - Eileen had bought us 2 boxes.    To 8 o'clock Mass. Rested and read papers as didn't feel well. Called sisters - Bit reached home from Eileen's at 12:30. Jenni leaving nanny job in California - has opening around Philadelphia - Eileen feeling a little better. Wes paid bills and contributions.

1992 - Tuesday. 38° at 6:45 - could. Sun 7:01/4:29 To Mass. Did crossword. I went to S & S - had Paid Prescriptions drug form corrected - banana (not very good) 4/$1.00. Wes stayed home waiting for man to call re shop machinery - never did. After lunch Wes put in stakes around Arborvitae and we wired them against snow. Raked some leaves on Wood Knoll. Went over trees in wild garden to be cut down - When Tree-scape man calls. 

December 2

1988. Friday - 30° at 6:45 - Fair - Re past years - bananas were 3/$1.00 at Stop & Shop yesterday. 
No Mass account our colds. Wes rested during day. I left at 9:30 for Caldor parking lot. Caudatowa House Tour - bus to Farmingdale Road - 2 houses -very good - one condominium at Quail Ridge. Bought milk & orange juice -home at 12:15 for lunch. Changed clothes and went to house at 194 West Lane where was hostess until 4 pm - before I came someone stole a silver fork from dining room table. Home at 4:40. A cold and dreary afternoon & evening.

1989. Saturday. 15° at 7 AM. Cloudy - Re past years last week bananas were 3/$1.00 at Stop & Shop but 59 cents [[cents symbol]]/lb at Waldbaums. Very light snow started at noon - changed our plans to see the movie [["Boxer"?]] in Danbury. We had gone to bank, Marcus. Postoffice (15 [[cents symbol]] for postcard stamp) and picked up serviced Lawnboy at Nutmeg.   I cut off 2 1/2 inch from pleated black skirt - prepared it for hemming.  We worked on crossword - couldn't finish it. 
Gorbachev and Bush meeting off Malta during heavy storm  Philippines Aquino still holding out. 

1990 - Sunday - 36° at 6AM. Cloudy until afternoon. To 8 o'clock Mass. Wes' leg stiff- he rested most of day.  We read papers & did the crossword - didn't finish it. Martini before lunch - good nap. I raked leaves from wall garden - knoll and driveway - piled up oak leaves around Trailing Arbutus - watered Fuchsia in crawlspace - put wire cage around one Heather on Wood knoll. Phoned girls - Barbara Dario has a new job.

1991 - Monday - 47° at 7 AM. Partly cloudy - rain predicted tonight. Our colds better. To bank, Marcus & Stop & Shop. Wes phoned for car checkup appointment - tomorrow. We recovered livingroom fireplace. Outdoors after lunch. raked leaves at top holding bed and bank to road - cut grass there. Put baskets of leafchips on two empty raised beds - need to add manure or compost to raise level. Called George Ventris to put eagle weathervane on well house top.

1992- Wednesday. 34° at 7 AM. Cloudy. Sun 7:02-4:29 
Not as bad a day as predicted - we worked outdoors until 4 when it started to rain. 
Wes started the chipper by heating engine in garage. Then chipped pile at [[crossed-out]] ga [[/crossed-out]] shed - raking down the northeast slope when the pile was finished -
I cleaned up leaves along Viburnum path and spread the pile of chips we had put there on the Hosta bed.
