December 3

1988- Saturday- 32° at 7AM, Beautiful pink sky Wes had shop time. I did a wash - found "pink wedding dress " had spots, so washed and ironed that- took some of Cardinal flowers from coldframe and buried them in holding bed- covered them with pine needles. Watered plants in holding bed. To Marie Solting's wedding to Nelson Laurence Li Calse at St Mary's at 5:30- dinner at Elms following - home at 10:30.

1989- Sunday- 30° at 6AM- clear - very cold and very windy - temperature falling - 20° at night. To 8 o'clock Mass. Wes' cold is a little better- cough better but still blowing. I  hemmed and pressed the black pleated skirt - shortened. We went to Danbury to see movie "The Bear" - beautiful photography of Canadian Rockies and amazing animals. Naps on return. Put up new Audobon Birdfeeder- birds came immediately. 

1990 - Monday - 33° at 7AM - cloudy - rain predicted Did a wash - Wes had a haircut at 8:30 - stopped at Marcus for milk - still $1.99 for a gallon of 1/2% fat milk. I went to Town Hall - helped in mailing of recycling regulations to all Ridgefield residents - bought Christmas placemats & napkins for Joan & Hooker- good suet at Stop & Shop - Bank - Cold & miserable so no walk or outdoor work - did ironing - Wes built aluminum shelf for paint table- I made oatmeal cookies- rain started about 4:30. Hooker phoned pulley for  well house was shipped

1991 - Tuesday - 39° at 6AM. Dark - light rain - continued all day - heavy at times. Wes took car to Honda Service 7:30/9AM - glad to be home as traffic bad in rain - Did crossword. I ironed - made casseroles of Thanksgiving "bird". Mr Ventris came to go over work needed to put up Eagle Weathervane - will phone when can come to do it. I started "Secret Garden" Wes in shop. Saw deer had stripped leaves from Partridge berry - Darn

1992 - Thursday - 36° at 7AM. Cloudy - few snow flurries. To Mass to find notice on door Father ill and no Mass. Sun 7:03/4:28. Did crossword - finished it at noon [[strikethrough]] but [[/strikethrough]] when we realized what was missing. Raked at front of wood knoll - didn't finish it before lunch. I went to bank & S & S - found good suet. Wes started chipper & did pile at Well gate - I joined him on return - finished that area - beginning to look cleaner. Colder and gusty wind.

December 4

1988 - Sunday - 32° at 7:15. Cold, clear, windy day No Mass account wedding was last evening - Quiet day - Wes in shop - I worked with the plants knitted and read papers. Took a walk - 1 mile - at noon. Long nap. To Meffley's at 5 o'clock - dinner  -Petersen - Willises - Ryans - Charlotte Crossley there. Saw a deer crossing Bogus just below our fence when coming home at 10:30. 

1989 - Monday - 16° at 7AM - fell to 15° at 7:30. Clear - Slept in - our winter Mondays Read Bible - did crossword - To bank - Wes had a haircut - I shopped Waldbaums - walked a mile - sunny but very cold - lunch - nap - Wes started cleanup of shop - will not sell equipment until spring - I put leaf chips on Gaultheria procumbeus - small ferns - Carnus canadensis - prepared dress pattern to sew. Alex walked away from home to Sobols - very disturbed.  

1990 - Tuesday - 55° at 6AM - Raining heavily - Parkways closed in Westchester. High wind - rain until noon. To Mass - only Joe & Norman there. House chores - Wes put pensions in book. After lunch when rain stopped we put wire around Mugho [[Mugo]] Pine and Birds nest spruce outside fence - did a good job with Sears heavy wire - Raked that area of leaves and sticks.

1991 - Wednesday - 36° at 7:30 - Slept late - Rain is over - Partly cloudy. Did crossword - Brought out more wire from crawlspace. Wired in the dwarf pine, Birds Nest Spruce and Mugho [[Mugo]] pine outside fence I put Ross netting over all Partridgeberry patches and the Shortis against the deer - had eaten a couple -

1992 - Friday - 30° at 6:45 - Cloudy - Went to Rectory but no Mass Father still ill. Sun 7:04-4:28. not a bad morning but cold & damp afternoon - felt like snow. Finished cleaning leaves from West side of wood knoll slope - a lot of hand picking around Carolina Rhododendron & Mughos [[Mugos]]. Wes started the chipper after lunch and did the pile in the wildgarden. President Bush announced forces going into Somalia to ensure delivery of food to starving people.
