December 15

1988 - Thursday - 33° at 6AM - Sunny & cold. High winds. To Mass. Wes fixed the kitchen faucet - called Honda for a service date (21st). I raked snow from most of deck. We hung second Christmas wreath over front door. Early lunch - I left at 12:30 for bank - Dr Yanity - preparatory work to cap three side teeth - horrible - cost $1425 also horrible - picked up pine branches from Petersen's - shopped Stop & Shop - home. Wes had worked in shop - put chicken wire in crawlspace.

1989 - Friday - 16° at 6AM - Clear - cold sunny morning - clouded up in PM - snow forecast tonight - To mass. To Eileen's to exchange Kelly's pear gift for jams - to A&P in Millwood - Dodds for scotch & gin - to Pinchbeck for greens for garage lights - Carolyn's to leave nursery rhyme book for Chelsea - home for a late lunch. The raccoon took the tree suet before we came home.

1990 - Saturday - 25° at 7AM. Gloomy - damp - sleet before noon - turned to rain when temperature rose to 42° in afternoon - all tress iced in morning - glad we didn't have to go out. Made oatmeal cookies - vacuumed - marked off Christmas cards - transplanted geranium (2) Muriel gave me to larger pots. 
Studied readings for tomorrow's Mass. Read paper - did crossword. 
Sun (none today) 7:14-4:30 - one minute later at night

1991 - Sunday - 34° at 6:30 - Very high wind - lots of sticks - one big tree limb - down. To 8 o'clock Mass - forgot present for poor Bridgeport family - returned to church with package at 9:45. Finished writing cards (78 in all) packed box of pecans for Helen Ross & Nancy-Carroll - left Helen's in her car then went to Mary Luke's for brunch - good time - home at 3:30 - long nap. soup for supper - Hume Cronyn in "Christmas on Division Street"

1992 - Tuesday - 36° at 6:45. Sun 7:13-4:29 - Forecast was sunny & milder but cloudy until late afternoon - not bad really. To Mass - I returned home as couldn't remember turning down the oatmeal - I had. After house chores & crossword, to Emissions test - passed after a 25 minute wait. Home for lunch - to Youngs for bird food, gas from Mobil - bank - to Helen Ross' to leave Christmas gift - to Bleckwehl’s for the same -


December 16

1988 - Friday - 18° at 6AM - Sunny, very cold day House and shop chores. To Mass. After lunch I went to bank and Prudential-Bache to talk to Alison Rowe on our Investment Allocation - 
Phoned Bridgeport Bank (Bank Mast) to send us check for CD when matures tomorrow - 
Set up tree in Solar - put on lights - set up crib 
Saw Red-bellied Woodpecker again.

1989 - Saturday - 20° at 7AM - About 4 inches of snow - Wes says 5 - I say 6 or 7. 
Raked - shoveled all morning - luckily snow was fluffy - only gale force winds made it difficult - paths covered over as soon as opened. 
Put container (barrel top) of bird seed on ground as squirrels spending day in their nests. 
Left suet out at night as think Raccoon wont come.

1990 - Sunday - 39° at 6AM - Re former years, Red Bellied Woodpeckers, both male and female, are frequent visitors. Also saw Carolina Wren - Brown Creeper here consistently. To 8 o'clock Mass - I was Lector. Beautiful early morning - partly cloudy and windy later 
Wrote out a lot of contribution checks. Took a walk - a mile - Wes has sore feet - needs callous pads. Finished decorating tree - put felt on back of crib - Phoned girls - all well - 

1991 - Monday - 28° at 7:30 - Fair Sun 7:13-4:29 To Post Office with Nancy-Carroll’s pecan box - bank - Mary Brook Christmas tree sale not open - opposite "Small Mall" was Delancey Street Foundation (drug rehabilitation non-profit group) where bought tree - to Emissions - passed - home for lunch. Took Millicent Sattler's to leave her pecans and pick up present for us - home to iron linen tablecloth and make bran muffins - Wes put up hook in powder room for plant. Very cold windy day.

1992 - Wednesday - 35° at 7AM - Cloudy - Sun 7:14-4:29 Damp - not too cold but not the 50° predicted. 
Wes started to set up TR - I gathered garden sticks into lengths. We set up the Christmas tree - big job as tree too big - also ran out of tree lights as one string wouldn't work - shoveled the side terrace - a good 12 inches. Wes started separating tools - putting aside those we will keep. A man is to come tomorrow night to look at shop - also another call from Pennysaver ad at 9:45 PM!
