December 17

1988 - Saturday - 12° at 7AM.  Forecast is for snow - cloudy morning but sun out 2 pm and a nice sunset - lucky - we don't need more snow.  
To church for individual confession at 9:30 - delivered pecans to the Rosses and fruitcake to Sattlers - found Carolyn & Pete away so couldn't leave their fruitcake - had car washed - so much traffic in town came home - 
Had martini - worked on crossword - Wes cleaned up his shop - I made soup - washed & ironed.

1989 - Sunday - 20° at 6AM - Good sleeping as went to bed early account tired from snow shoveling - Sun 7:14-4:30. Sunny. very cold and windy day - To 8 o'clock Mass.  Read papers - tried to finish yesterday's crossword - no luck.  Major T.V. - Mr Hendrik said he'd come with speaker cover material - spoiled our martini time but he postponed it.  Picked up Helen & Alex Ross at 2:30 & went to St. Gregory's church, Danbury, to hear Father Ray Brown talk on Infancy Gospels - very interesting - home at 5.

1990 - Monday - 36° at 6AM - Beautiful day - mostly sunny - in 40's in afternoon - Solar 80° at noon as I had the door closed - had our sandwich there. 
Wes took car to Honda - 34,700 mileage - did a big job.  Cost $229 - he stopped at Marcus for milk - bank for crisp bills for gifts - Stop & Shop for bananas - gasoline down 5¢ to 1.649.  I did a wash - cleaned kitchen floor - under the frig - brought the Investment Book up-to-date.  After lunch we limbed up the beech at driveway and the oak along path to holding bed.  I hand picked the wall garden.  Took a mile walk

1991 - Tuesday - 19° at 6AM - cloudy morning - snow flurry at noon.  To Mass.  To Youngs for birdfood - bank for crisp bills for gifts - to Dr Yanity both had teeth cleaned - no cavities - to Muriel Pedersen to leave 3 six packs of Marigolds (Preview of Spring show entry) home for lunch.  Cleaned upper shelves of den and kitchen book cases for new radio speakers - gave up on Jeff Hubert at 4 pm wen he came and set up Denon Tuner - 4 new speakers - Compact disc player.

1992 - Thursday - 40° at 6AM - Raining.  Wes tried to catch Streeter with Christmas gift but had already left paper.  Sun (gone today) 7:15-4:30.  Mailed Streeter check.  Wes gave gifts ($10 each) to TR men.  To Ridgefield - bought tree lights at Ridgefield Hardware - Wes had 11:30 appointment with Dr Sandler - add a drop from the "green bottle" at noon - to S&S for bananas & milk.  Home for lunch - nap.  Wes started cleaning shop.  Man was to come at 5 to look at equipment but phoned to cancel.  Thick fog all day - lifted at night


December 18

1988 - Sunday - 12° at 7AM - Good to sleep in.  Saw three deer crossing the iced pond - going to the East.  Relaxed morning.  At noon went to Hartcorn's for home Mass and followed by luncheon.  Beautiful sunny winter day.  Home at 3:30 - changed clothes (me) and picked up Alex & Helen and on to Ruggles new home on North Salem Road - fabulous - like a museum - in Japanese style - home at 6:30 - Soup for supper.

1989 - Monday 16° at 6AM - Moon has been very bright this past week.  Sun 7:15/4:30.  Sunny day but very cold.  Wes took car to Honda for repair of Heat button - stopped for gasoline - bank - Marcus - while there ran into Mr. Hendrick, Major TV, and bought foam cover for speakers.  We found we could not use the foam - used cloth we had bought.  Wes to Dr Yanity at 1:30 - two teeth filled - I shopped Grand Union - We set up Christmas tree - big job getting it up to holder - put on lights - set up crib.

1990 - Tuesday - 40° at 6AM - Raining - off and on all day.  To Mass.  Took car for Admissions Test - no one in line - passed - to Stop & Shop - home for lunch - nap.  No walk account weather.  Wes in his shop.  I cooked chicken for salad on Saturday when Bleckwehls and Eileen coming - also made a coffee cake.

1991 - Wednesday - 28° at 7AM.  Mostly fair.  Sun 7:15/4:30.  Very cold windy day.
Picked up Wes' pants and left jacket & pants at new cleaner Backus Avenue - to bank - to Macy's - bought Paddington Bear for Chelsea - William Sonoma for articles for Eileen - Norelco razor for Wes at Sears - home for lunch - set up Christmas tree in Solar - went in easily - put on lights - set up crib - Sun 4:15-4:30.

1992 - Friday - 39° at 6AM.  Sun 7:15-4:30
Beautiful day - first in ages & so welcome.  To Mass.  Put new string of lights on tree - will test placement when dark.  I shopped S&S & Marcus.  Wes waited for man to look at shop but never came.  Early lunch as Wes had 3PM appointment at Danbury Hospital for bladder sonogram - home at 4:45.  Man was to come to look at shop but he called at 8:40 that he couldn't make it - another disappointment.
