December 25 1988 - Sunday - 40° at 6AM Sun 7:19-4:34 Partly cloudy, but sun out mid-morning to 8 o'clock Mass - much better than five last evening Prepared for Eileen, Mary & dogs - here at 11:15 for a happy visit. Cocktail in Solar. Wes had a nice fire going for dinner. Eileen & I took dogs for a walk, then they left for home about four. We took a nap - cleaned up - relaxed 1989 - Monday - Christmas Day - 12° at 6 AM. Sun (none today) 7:19 - 4:33 Cloudy, cold day but ok for driving. To 8 o'clock Mass. Prepared dinner for Eileen & Mary - here at 11 to 4:30. Wes kept a fire going in livingroom and it was comfortable Eileen gave us both beautiful work gloves. Dogs had three courses - we started with soup. Took a nap and cleaned up 1990 - Tuesday - 23° at 6 AM - wind has stopped. Sun 7:18 - 4:33 again. Sunny fair day - cold - good for traveling. Prepared house and dinner (ham) for Eileen & Mary - here at 11:45. Wes had a nice fire going. Pleasant visit. Eileen gave Wes a Notre Dame sweatshirt - me warm gloves - Mary a pink shirt to Wes and umbrella to me. They left about four o'clock. We took a nap - then cleaned up 1991 - Wednesday - 23° at 7 AM. Cloudy. Sun 7:18 - 4:33. Mostly clear, cold day luckily - Tarrytown had snow flurries in morning. Prepared house and dinner for Mary & Eileen & dogs here 10:50 - Wes kept a nice fire going Lamb cooked in claypot - pot cracked after coming out of oven but good lamb. They left about 3 to get home before dark. Mary had trouble with her car steaming up. We telephoned Kelly - Bif called here - Joan & Hooker with Pam and her children. 1992 - Friday - 20° at 7 AM. Fair Sun 7:19 - 4:34. Became increasingly cloudy, but not bad for traveling. Wes set up a fire - good to have it for the day - cold but house comfortable. I prepared dinner (beef filet good) Mary, Eileen and Bo & Snow here about 11:30. Happy day. Joan called early as they were going to Pam's for the day - Bif phoned from Wisconsin where she had arrived safely at Betsey's, Eileen & Mary left at 3:50 - Mary had trouble with her car Tarrytown to Bronxville. December 26 1988 - Monday - 28° at 7:30 - Fair - Sun 7:19 - 4:34. Good to sleep late. Beautiful winter day - cold, windy but sunny. Walked to #215 Ned Mtn - Otto's Cabin - Wes in shop. I knitted - almost finished vest. Put salt hay around (over) Heuchera - Heather - Cardinal flowers - all plants in upper holding bed. Had trap out - Caught a chickadee - squirrel escaped when trap backdoor wasn't closed. 1989 - Tuesday - 23° at 7 AM. Lightly snowing Sun 7:19 - 4:34. Sun out before noon but snow flurries in PM - no accumulation after the morning. Wrote letters - paid bills - shoveled snow from walks - Cleaned off solar roof - took a walk only to Allen's corner - temperature rose to 33° midday then fell and a high wind at night. I sewed blue wool dress Wes read the Ray. 1990. Wednesday - 24° at 7:30 - Fair - Good to sleep late. Sun 7:19 - 4:34. Cold day - wintry sky - sun pale. Did crossword. Took Paperwhite Narcissus to Punkie - to Grand Union for large box oatmeal ($2.99) and milk - $2.45 - better to go to Marcus at $1.99 - bank and Recycling - home - took a mile walk. Wes in shop. We divided Azaleas and put half in livingroom to start hardening off. 1991 - Thursday. 20° at 6 AM. Moon out - stars. Sun 7:19/4:34 - Beautiful winter day - cold - sunny. To Mass. Put plastic cover over livingroom fireplace - it does a good job. Hung fake ivy plant in powderroom on a long ribbon - Eileen's suggestion. Did crossword. Dr. Puchner telephoned - gave information on Wes' past treatment. To urologist Dr. Edward Beck, Sand Pit Road Danbury, for 2:20 appointment - nice young doctor - set up 1/2/92 date in Danbury hospital 10 AM for ultra sound. 1992 - Saturday - 28° at 7 AM. Fair. Sun 7:19 - 4:34. Beautiful winter day, sunny, increasingly colder at night and windy. Mostly lazy day - Put the cover on the livingroom fireplace. Worked on the crossword - very hard but filled it in. Monday will tell! I threw away some recipes - looking for a cookie recipe - Eileen asked me to bring them for [[strikethrough]] next [[/strikethrough]] New Year's Took a walk up Ned Mountain to #215.
