Dr. Dall, who was called away to Alaska to be gone until fall, has made some studies of the genus Cerion, naming three new subgenera founded on internal lamellae, and has completed his study and arrangement of the family Mactridæ, and the classification of the Pelecypoda, the results having been duly published in the Proceedings of the National Museum and elsewhere. He also continued his work on the Floridian Tertiary fauna.

"Mr. Charles T. Simpson has completed his investigations of the land snails of the West Indies and their evidence on the geology of that region and has carried on through the year his studies of the Naiads of the Lea and general collections, resulting in a paper soon to appear in the Proceedings of the National Museum on the classification and geographical distribution of these forms."
