The intention is to continue our regular work until all areas are catalogued and registed, the Jeffreys and Verrill collections administered upon and the duplicates wholly eliminated from the reserves. This is likely to take some years yet, owing to the great pressure of current work. Great advances have been made of late in the study of the minuter forms of land shells, Pupidae, and Sphaeriidae. (Among those who have given special attention to this group of the American fauna is Dr. V Sterki of New Philadelphia, Ohio. I am anxious that he should be invited to visit the museum for a few weeks in order to thoroughly revise that part of our collection which at present is in an unsatisfactory state. We need to have this done in order that the identifications called for by correspondents can be made accurately and for our own protection
