[[right side of letter]] [[Anne Broy written in pencil]] 524 N. Monroe Street Arlington, Virginia September 3, 1943 Dear Doris, Hi! I got your card quite a few days ago as you must realize after the long period between the moment you mailed it till the moment you receive this (Whew! what a construction!) From the other side of the post-card Stroughton must be a lovely place. We got back from Massachusetts about two weeks ago and know from experience how lovely and cool it is. As a matter of fact it's cool here right now. There was a ripping thunderstorm last night and when I got up this morning (5 a.m.) it was still raining hard. [[left side of page]] And I must put up my hair (I really ought to take a shower, but am too tired) As I turned this over, I perceived the beautiful spots decorating this and realized at once that your artistic nature will appreciate their beauty.* Love, Anne [[right margin]] This is some of Bev's sabotage P.S. The reason we children rise at 5:00 a.m. is because we all serve morning papers. (Bev - "Times - Herald" Rah! Rah! Jim - Post Anne - The Washington Post [[pencil note Ug!]] (Washington's best newspaper - the one with the widest circulation, the woman's page with features we all love, quick and true news, good sound editorials, an excellent sports section and good quick delivery - boys - and girls - and stinky funnies - - - - That's why we get the Times *This is just my way of getting out of having to say "excuse me" I didn't want to waste space with that. [[left margin]] Looks like I filled the page after all, doesn't it? By the way, don't be afraid but what paper do you subscribe to? A. B.
