[[crossed-out]] When I get up from bed [[/crossed-out]]

When I have got my clothes on
I settle down to read;
I take a handy book out
And nothing do I heed.

But after I have read a-while
I see a furry form;
Come waddeling [[waddling]] from the kitchen
Wishing he was warm.

He comes a-trotting to the couch.
And jumps upon my lap;
And soon a furry ball is formed
[[crossed-out]]He does not leave a gap.[[/crossed-out]]
Indeed, without a gap!

When food is on our table
And to breakfast I would go;
Except that this old pussy
Is purring soft and low.
