9. The washboard movement. With the finger tips of both hands, massage over the lines in the forehead to the crow's feet at the corners of the eyes. Use the upward movement with force. Be careful not to use force in the downward movement.

10. Eye Exercise. With the palms of the hands, massage over the eyes from the nose to the outside corners gently rotating the eyeball.

11. Lifting the muscles of the face. Beginning underneath the eyes, with the palms of the left hand and the palms of the right hand, gently raise the muscles of the face. The ear may be strengthened by a gentle massage around the ear.

12. Neck massage. With one hand on the front of the neck and one hand at the back of the neck, bend the head to the left side, to the right side, backward and forward in eight counts:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. This exercise if used daily with strengthen the neck and remove wrinkles

Each movement should be continued at least three times. After beginning the movements by placing the hands upon the face, the hands should not be removed from the face until the twelve movements are completed.

MUSCLES, NERVES, AND ARTERIES INVOLVED IN FACIAL MASSAGE MOVEMENTS

(Note: For position of these, see chapter on Anatomy.)

1. This movement involves the Platysma muscle, the Sterno Cleido Mastoid muscle, the Cervical nerve and the Facial and Thyroid arteries.

2. (a) This movement is used to rest the nerves at the back of the head and is truly valuable to the nervous patron. It involves the Trapezius muscle, the Occipital and the Spinal nerves and the Thyroid and Scapula arteries.
