[[top margin]]SINGING RECITAL AT MISS LINKINS'S HOME[[/top margin]] DESKAIDE THE SILENT SECRETARY 1942 JUNE 21 SUNDAY Fair. I went to church Sunday-school (Christian-brick with overlapping bricks - I have been with Bobby a lot before) with Bobby. I caught a lot of "Japs". I have the quart mayonaise [[mayonnaise]] jar half full now I believe the county gives 5¢ or 80¢ a quart for them. In the afternoon at four I went to the singing recital with Bobby until 6. I wore my nylon stockings, pumps, & graduation dress. I sang pretty well - Little Woodland Rose, Ich Liebe Dich, and Voices of Spring. (in order). One boy (Clyde Cooley, 12 about) acted & sang very well - "I ain't got nuttin"-(nothing) & looked at Bobbie Williams a lot - she looked at him too. oh - oh - Bobby. We had ice crem [[cream]] for supper. I went over to Delores at 7:30 but she had left at 4:30 for Penn. I have 2 little snags in my nylons - one in each one - Miss Williams fixed it. I went to the store in the morning & took some old rubber in - drive started Tue. & got 2¢ (2 lbs.) & rode for 1st time to new Safeway (formerly Sanitary store) near Fort Myer. I sewed up the hem on my dress mother made. It is all done except for the clasp on top button - picture on next page. Miss Julia Gardener came for supper Sunday (she is about 60 - works on fossils.
