cool, very nice weather
[]
Fair. We stayed home. Mother cooked the 4lb. chicken I bought yesterday 2 hrs. + we had him for lunch. It was very good - lots left - we only ate a leg + a little meat. After lunch I took my hair down (I have had it
up for several days) + at 2:00, went over to see Helen Bullock, the crippled girl (arthritus, I
think) She is about 20-25 + is very nice. We talked + played cards + I went home for supper.
We had beans for supper + pie for lunch (mother made I made one yesterday - good - both apple.) I have fed the little rabbit 5 or more times today. He partly sucks, partly licks the milk out of the medicine - he eats 3 or 4 1/2 filled ones at a time!! Very healthy - the cut
where Bun Bun bit him yesterday is healing up. He hops around a lot + washes his face + looks like a ball of fluff.
[]
[[?]]ing big- he is much smaller than Bun Bun. [[?]]

AUGUST
3
MONDAY
Breezy & nice. We still have lots of chicken left.
Fair. In the morning I went to store did German- just
finished chapter XIII (13) + tomorrow begin XIV (14). I do a lesson in 3 days. - part A+D, B, C. In the afternoon Mabel came over + we went to the movies- "The
Wife Takes a Flyer" It was exceedingly good- very
funny, a comedian starring in it was in Holland and
German generals were involved. In the last scene,
a General was standing in his long white underwear, which the hero + heroine had left him in in getting his clothes for an escape in a plane. There was also a
mystry [[mystery]] - "Jimmy Valentino" - quite good. Several murders.
After that I treated Mabel to an icecream, she came to my house to get her bike which she had ridden over here + went home - she wears lipstick! (not very often)

[]
I saw lots of girls with painted stockings (even [[?]],
[]
[[top margin]]
sometimes!) Since there are no silks, nylons
[[/top margin]]
[]
are terribly expensive and rayons are not sheer, they are wearing painted ones.

Transcription Notes:
-Both pages are mostly transcribed, but I did not do the margins (other than the bottoms of the pages) because I can't read them. I can't make sense of the order of the left margin notes and the notes on the top, as well as the ones overlapping the calendar (on both pages). -I don't know the order of the margins on the right page on the right side as well as the others.
