August 14 Friday
Rainy-cleared up in afternoon a
little + cloudy + rainy in morning.
I went to store ([[?]]) did German,
etc. + in afternoon Patty Martin
invited me to go with her to
Medadist [[Methodist]] Church peagant. I went
+ bought nothing. Saw short play, etc.
+ went to Patty's (she is 2 wks
younger than I, tall (not as I), slender,
clear complexioned, pretty, permanent,
rather shy at first but nice.- her hobby
is photography- she took four
flashbulb photos in Church. (bulb
costs 13¢, lasts one time) Then I saw
her enormous gray rabbit (tame), she
came over until 6:30 + I designed (-re-)
my bedroom part of house + we
laughed + rearranged + rearranged it
+ had fun. Then she went + I ate and
went to bed- I finished side porch
designing. I got a letter from
Bobby (Williams) a nice one!

August 15 Saturday
Cloudy Fair. In the morning I went to store,
made apple pie, did German (a lot -
finished Chapter XVI.) + worked
around house. am almost through
Immersee(German reading book)
- 50 pages on page 45. (4 pg. a day.)
In the afternoon Mabel called
up & I went to her house, fooled
around, went to store (no ice cream),
had some buttermilk at Mabel's
(Ugh - but her complexion) & Mabel
came over & designed houses with
her some, she went home, ate & read
a letter I got from Dolores today,
wrote one to her + mail tomorrow,
+ designed some + went to bed.
