SUNDAY

I strung over necklace mother made when
she was small (eycyluptees [[?]] [[illegible]] beads. 
Fair + windy + hot. I didn't go anywhere but right after breakfast went back of Dad's farm[[?]], home to 
get blackberries but there was too much poison ivy so I went to a field across the street from Mabel's (woods) + got about 1/2 quart - lots of brambles + mosquiutoes[[?]].
I came home. I had a bath + mother washed my hair - I got
some (of front) stuck in comb + had to cut[[?]] some off. My green comb
has been broken in middle for quite a while. Dad goes home[[?]] tomorrow.
I am going to have a permanent (decided on Aug 14)
my curlers are most worn out. In the 
war news we are losing not so good. The Germans are gaining in
Russia + africa is about tied + are 
torpedoeing boats along both of our coasts a lot. 
I starched + ironed a dress after lunch (hand)
fixed up my room (upstairs)
saw addie (next door woman) + read.

MONDAY

Dad caught bus at [[?]] 1:00 [[?]] P.M + we walked[[?]]
before I rode down to store for 1 pint.
Fair. I got my allowance (15¢) I had $8.68 + I have 
$8.83 now.

In the morning I went to store, made a pie, did German, etc.
In the afternoon I went over to Mabel's + we designed houses - 
I have got as far as the guest bedroom .
2 rooms to go - bathroom + my bedroom. Then we went to store,
I got some moth flakes (15¢+ 15¢ = 30¢) 
at drug store (Campbells) for Dad (his bird + plants) +
Mabel got some elan's[[?]]
red fingernail polish, dropped over + put some on
(I put some on 1 finger) + went home. We ate + Dad (at 8:15)
+ mother + I went in taxi (Dad has 1 suitcase (big) + 1 [[illegible]] to 
station to go home. We were divern to Aunt Maud's[[?]] about [[illegible]] from 
where you get bus to [[illegible]] frees[[?]] up[[?]] [[illegible]]
from mother's rented houses tree +
common [[illegible]] 4 boxes - 4 lbs
take a subway to train [[illegible]] South Station in Boston
