Deskaide the silent secretary 1942

August 26 Wednesday

Every day I always wipe all dishes.

Fair & still cold. In the morning I went to the store, had mother work on my picture, did no German & finished the book “Her Son’s Wife” by Dorothy Canfield. In the afternoon I went over to Mabel’s & we got an old baby carriage of Mabel’s to wheel around little William (2) who lives across the street a few houses down from Mabel. He wouldn’t go so we played with him for a while & looked for Barbara (a friend of Mabel’s) but couldn’t find her so we went downtown, got a 5¢ ice cream each & Mabel bought 2 10¢ balls of colored wool & we went home and knitted. I used some old pink yarn & 2 of Mabel’s needles (she has 4) - She taught me how to perl. Easy. I have forgotten how to cast off. Then I came home, ate, polished my nails, listened to radio, went to bed at 8:30, etc.
