Mother and I went to town at about 9:00. I sent for 2 bottles of Jergens, 1 offer of 2 cream (Woodbury) tubes & 6 shades powder + 1 Lady Esther offer of face cream + 9 shades face powder. First we went to the school - Western + registered - I will take German, Latin, English, Geometry, + Gym + 1 study hour - everyday. Then we went to Pann's (I wanted to get a dress but didn't) + I got a pair (size 8 1/2) of bright red loafers - cute - [[//strikethrough//]] buckled. [[drawing of buckeled shoes, front & side view]] Then we went to the 5¢+10¢ too + I got a wide blue shiny belt (10¢ - Ma pd for) + Mother got a twin dark blue one too (25¢). Then we got milk, ate our sandwiches, had each a sundae (Ma - pinapple, me, strawberry) + I got 3 candles (pink (all way through) yellow + white) for 10¢. (my money) + we went to Hect's [[Hecht's]] where I got a beautiful thick (spun rayon), pink, long-sleeved, dress. I fixed my purse for school. Dolores came over in the evening + typed - she takes it. [[/top margin right page ]] September 16 Wednesday got a 5 leaf clover [[right margin continued upside-down under calendars]]I have 7 necklaces now pink, light pink, white, pure white, red, green, & blue [[/right margin continued upside-down under calendars]] Fair. In the morning, I started a pink (dark) necklace + finished it. + went over at 10:00 A.M. to take care of Mrs. Grinoble's children, Billy (2) + Richard (7 mos.) + washed the dishes until 1:00. (Went home for lunch.) Richard made a mess so I called Mrs. Anderson (next door). I got 60¢ for it. (15¢ per hour, 15¢ for dishes), I had $2.38 - have $2.98 now. I put the 2 dollars with my $12 [[strikethrough]] 00 [[/strikethrough]] .30 making $14.00 - took 30¢ + added to $.98 - have $1.28 now.
