TUESDAY
Fair & cold. I stayed home - lay down all day. - have to dry around my sore leg + get on a chair to get in bed or on the couch. I did my nails, etc. The doctor (Noland - nice) came over & bandaged my wound. Snooks is very tame. In the evening after supper Dolores came over for a few minutes. I went to bed at 8:30. I didn't dress today.

Fair. I got up + dressed + lay around all day. My leg is better but I still can't walk on it (not bendable). I wrote a letter to Mabel. I enclosed a piece of red clay she wanted to see & told her about the beach. [[strikethrough]] [[Is?]] [[/strikethrough]] Mother was away all morning & came back at noon. She made over an old dress of hers into a cute pleated skirt for me (a better sewer now) & fixed my dumb looking pink skirt by letting it down & rolling down the belt. She got a present for Mabel, Dolores & me - some necklace for Christmas down town. [[strikethrough]] In the [[/strikethrough]] She also got a tremendous amount of my homework - horrible German - a lesson a day - takes me several hours + more to do a lesson!! I [[strikethrough]] ha [[/strikethrough]] don't know hardly any words. I had Snooks by me all day: - he's awfully cute.

Transcription Notes:
She may be trying to indicate that Sept 30 is her birthday by writing "My" over the pre-printed "ToDAY is the Birthday of", but no mention of her birthday in her diary entry for the day. Unsure. *No, she made an entry for her birthday on another page, don't remember which date.
