NOVEMBER 14 SATURDAY

Fair and cold. (26 degrees) In the morning Dolores + I had returned to go to Washington but couldn't because Dolores is sick. Carolyn came over in the morning + ate lunch + gave me 3¢ for the formula of making fingernail polish from toothbrushes etc. + [[strikethrough] a bo [[/strikethrough]] the unfinished bottle of green polish I was making. I had $2.79 + have $2.92 now. After lunch Carolyn + I went to the movies at the "Arlington" on Columbia like about a block from T.J. (School I went to last year) + saw "Somewhere I'll Find You" starring Clark Gable and Lana Turner - cute. Very good about time of Pearl Harbor, but on Bataan (Dec. 7, 1941) - Clark Gable was in "Gone With the Wind!"
Carolyn, who didn't eat much at lunch, got 5 candy bars (5¢ each)
[[left margin]] Betty Hedrick called up in the evening. She is discouraged by [[/left margin]]
[[top margin]] all the Latin [homework. She sits in front of me in Latin + I help her some - so very nice. Lives in Va.  

Mother + Dad went out in the morning to a Biological School meeting til late- 11:00. [[/top margin]]
[[left margin]] I let Snooky on rug in [[illegible]] very scared of Carolyn & got stuck behind piano.[[/left margin]]
[[top margin]] We can bet he is scared.[[/top margin]]

EDDIE RICKENBACKER RESCUED ON 14TH $$ - $$
November 15 Sunday
Fair. I went Sunday school with Bobby + walked home. Dolores is mad at my because

America's ace in World War I- en route to survey of Pacific zone air forces operations near (south of) Hawaii in place which ran out of gas- lost 21 days in ruble, lost- all except wife and friends believed him lost. I didn't go out with her yesterday. In the afternoon Carolyn came over + we worked on the [[?]] with brush-fringe + nail polish idea. I sold her 1 toothbrush (5¢) + the rest of my fingernail polish (3¢) + 5 tiny bottles with corks (Dads) (5¢) - in all 13¢. I had $2.92 + have $3.05 now!! Carolyn and I are going to send a pile of "Spirit" comic magazines (in Sunday "Star" paper [[?]] - small basket) to soldiers. They are men. In the afternoon we played cards (Bobby too) + Carolyn went to [[cont to right margin]] 
[[right margin]] store for 1/2 pint (18¢) of ice cream which we ate. (naturally) [[/right margin]]
