Fair and cold. I went to school. I got my allowance - 15¢. I had $3.05. I have $3.20 now. My cold is a little better but still stuffy. I have read 1 chapter (9 p.) ahead of German assignment (Bambi). I had a lot of homework. I had my sining [[singing]] lesson. My voise [[voice]] isn't very husky. Dolores came over in the evening. News - about Saturday we won a great battle in the Solomons!! General Rommel (German) is almost driven out of Africa. We have almost reached Bengazi. The Russians are holding out. The Germans have been beaten off + lost Leningrad. We have Solomons almost completely now. They admit their very heavy losses (20-40 thousand men - 23 ships - we lost 2 destroyers + 6 cruisers (we say)) We are closing in on Bukna & a explosion in Canton, Penn. by [[gas.?]]

Fair. I went to school. Not much homework. I began wearing long socks - just below knee. Sat. Dolores didn't come over - so I had my hair washed, took a bath. This is how I wear my hair. (Most people do this way - girls) Here is a victory cookie recipe. ↑ pinned on.
