December 26 1942 Saturday

Misty & cloudy & chilly. In the morning I wrote practically all my thank-you cards & washed my hair. In the afternoon [[strikethrough]] in [[/strikethrough]] I made my new shirt tight enough, finished beads necklace of Christmas paper, & tried on new sweaters. Carolyn came over for a while & I tried to put together the 500 piece puzzle given to me - got in 1 hr. exactly 3 pieces together! There must be pieces missing.

Giraud was appointed successor of Darlan!

December 27 1942 Sunday

Cloudy & chilly. I didn't got to Sunday school but stayed home & did homework, etc. In the afternoon I fooled around & Dolores came over for a while & we drew-copied pictures from funny papers and drew legs. After she went home I ate & listened to radio & wrote last thank-you letters.
