MINNIE: Oh, yes! That was before then. That's--these--This little first pictures I started on, these little first ones.

MRS STARR: I see.

MINNIE: And these little first ones all--one hundred and forty four--put out then was China. Don't know why I drempt so much about China. But I--and--

MRS STARR: I'd still--

MINNIE: China, and--

MRS STARR: I'd still love to hear more about your family.

MINNIE: Well--

MRS STARR: This helps me to interpret, you see.

MINNIE: What say?

MRS STARR: It helps to interpret.

MINNIE: Help me interpret?

MRS STARR: It would help me interpret--

MINNIE: Oh, well.

MRS STARR: --if I knew more about your family.

MINNIE: Well, that's more-- There isn't much more because you see my mother here and grandmother and they--my grandmother mostly because I was home with her mostly.

MRS STARR: Yes.

MINNIE: Because my mother had to gather, you know, had to work out in service. And Mama, she was home, and soon I didn't know anything about my father. I saw him about three times in my life.

MRS STARR: You did?
