MRS. KELLY

NHS. You don't know what year you were born?

MRS. KELLY. I was born up in Long Creek

NHS. Yes, but do you know what year it was?

MRS. KELLY. Minnie knows. Mama tells Minnie all them things and she never will forget it but I ain't never asked her but Minnie know what year and all when I was born and there ain't but one thing that I remember when I was small that I can remember. My uncle, mama had him with her to tend to me and they laugh at me. I told them I ain't remember but one thing and that's when the practice men hollered war. I say mama went to the fire place and standing up put a box down on the floor and told my uncle to stand me up and to send me to go get it, to get that box and I say I don't know whether I went and got it or not. I say that's the only thing I remember was she telling him to stand me up and telling me to go get it and then she tole him to take me and go over to grandma's, mama's mother house, and be sure and look over the fence to see, [[strikethru]]because many[[/strikethru]] cause these times snakes would be, you know, before he put me over and till he get over and then take me and go and I say I ain't knowed no more and when [[strikethru]]I say[[/strikethru]] I knowed no more I say I was grown.

NHS. That was your uncle? (Mrs. Kelly, yes) That was your mother's brother?

MRS. KELLY. Brother, one of her brothers was staying with her.

NHS. What was his name?

MRS. KELLY. Uncle Rob (NHS Robb what?) Rob [[strikethru]]Nimouns[[/strikethru]] Williams He was to tend to me for her because she was the only one in the family that could sew.way back yonder when she was young (NHS. Your mother?) Yes mam, she always done all the sewing until before she died she say she done done handling needles and things until she didn't want to sew a button on nothing. Sick and tired of sewing.

NHS. How long did she live? Your mother?

MRS. KELLY. I don't know how long. Minnie have to tell that. I went to town and bought her down here and she was staying in that house back of that store down there. That house of Minnie's had been [[strikethru]]solden to him[[/strikethru]] back of the store down there.

NHS. You mean when she lived in the park or was that some other time? Was that after she was married (MRS. KELLY,, who) Minnie?

MRS. KELLY. Oh yeah. She was married and had all her children. No – Yes sir. She had them three boys you know
