A collection purchased from Felipe Poey, containing about 400 species largely from the island of Cuba and adjacent region, added a number of desiderata to the collection though a considerable number of the shells were duplicates. 

Among the minor lots, which yet are worthy of special mention are the following:

From Dr. W.L. Abbott a small but welcome lot of shells from the Malay Peninsula, all new to the collection and containing a number of fine things and one particularly attractive new species of Nanina. (Gift)

From J.S. Arnheim of San Francisco some fifty or sixty miscellaneous species, most of which were desiderata.  (Gift)

From Rev. E.H. Ashmun Albuquerque N.M. several small lots of interesting landshells from little-visited portions of New Mexico and Arizona, containing several new species.  (Gift)

From the Australian Museum, Sydney NSW., twenty nine species of most desirable Australian land shells.  (Exchange)

Mrs. J.S. Oldroyd Los Angeles has continued her researches into the fauna of San Pedro, Cal[[strikethrough]] ifornia [[/strikethrough]], and has presented a number of species new to the collection from that locality. Some of [[strikethrough]] which [[/strikethrough]] those were undescribed. 

Dr. W.H. Rush, U.S.N. has [[strikethrough]] given [[/strikethrough]] sent in exchange a number of typical specimens of interesting shells from the Parana River and adjacent parts of South America. 

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has presented a number of interesting Mexican species, several of which are new, and nearly all new to the collection from the explorations
