4. State what progress has been made in administering upon the collections under your charge.

The answer to this query is practically included in the response to question No. 3. It may be added that while, during 1895-6, the number of entries on the register made during the year was 6670, during 1896-7 the total registration runs up to 16,287, which is probably the largest on record for the department of Mollusks and represents at least 48000 specimens.

The collection of minute Helicidæ, Pupa, Vertigo, Pisidium etc. which was greatly in need of careful revision has been worked over and named by Dr. V. [[Steski]] and may now be regarded as in complete order for reference.
