5. What special investigations have you commenced, continued, or completed, upon material under your care, during the year?

The report on the landshells of the International Boundary commission between Mexico and the United States has been printed. The discussion of the Insular landshell faunas illustrated by the collections at the Galapagos Ids. by Dr. G. Baur and others is likewise printed.

The descriptions of the Antillean Tertiary fossils prepared by the writer from the collections of the National Museum, including a revision of Ms. submitted by Mr. R.J.L. Guppy of Trinidad, W.I., have also been published.

Work has been continued by Mr. Simpson on his proposed monograph of the Naiades, and fair progress made. [[left margin]] tr. [[/left margin]] Work has been continued by the writer on the neocene fauna of Florida, and satisfactory progress made. The Pelecypods, to and including the Pectinidæ ( [[strikethrough]]including[[/strikethrough]] [[shorthand symbol?]]: the complete revision of the reserve series belonging to the museum as far as the work has gone) are practically finished.
