5. WHAT SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS HAVE YOU COMMENCED, CONTINUED, OR COMPLETED, UPON THE MATERIAL UNDER YOUR CARE, DURING THE YEAR.

A report upon the collections of land shells made during the progress of the International Mexican Boundary Survey, by Dr. E. A. Mearns, U.S.A. has been completed and submitted for printing. It contains the largest additions made to our knowledge of the Molluscan fauna of this region in many years.

A number of additions to the fauna of the coast of Texas collected by J. D. Mitchell esq, of the vicinity of San Pedro, Cala, by Mr. & Mrs. T.S. Oldroyd, and of Puget Sound and vicinity by Messrs P.B. Randolph of Seattle and Dr. C. F. Newcombe of Victoria, Brit. Col., have been described or elucidated.
