with quite a number of young men in reference to appointment and should like to have the authority to make arrangements with some person, if a favourable one presents, at a salary of from $600 to $900 per annum. When Mr. Smith left us on a salary of $1800 per annum I understood that two aids would be allowed whose combined salaries should not greatly, if any, exceed that amount.
