Washington, [[blank line]], 188

The month has been chiefly devoted to improving the collection of N. Am. Lepidoptera. The Noctuidae fasciatae have been rearranged, the accumulated accessions of Diurnals, Sphingidae, Lygaenid and Bombycid families, and Noctuids incorporated and all the duplicates in these groups brought together.

During the month with the help of Mr. Wm. H. Ashmead of the Agricultural Department all the unarranged Hymenoptera have been brought together with a view to rearrangement of the whole order.

Respectfully submitted,

C. V. Riley
Hon. Curator of Insects.
