Cloudy light W wind. Fresher toward noon. 9 P.M. bar. 30.230 Four bidarks pass us bound for Aliaska [Alaska] to hunt deer. Learn of them that the bark Legal Tender is in Sanborn Harbor. 4 fishing schooners have been about the Ids this spring. Caton has 7000 fish Dix is still at Coal Harbor. Give them some biscuit and tell them to bring some deer meat when they come back. Mr. Hodgekins finds fossil oysters on the E side of Popoff Id. Work all day over current notes + synopsis. Capt. Hall brings in a lot of good specimens of invertebrates + Peter some birds incl. golden Plover, Zon. coronata, Mel. affinis, + sandereling
