of W from the Sand point signal take some lunch and a series of angles from Unga station and run the shore line up to the lava bluff very near West Head signal. This is the longest line we have ever run in one day.  
Finish at 8:40 P.M and return to boat and arrive at vessel at 9:30 P.M. See a schooner the Flying Mist going into Coal Harbor. 9 pm. bar. 30.010. Wind all day fresh & puff NNW to NNE.
Tuesday July 2, 1872.
Half clear.  fresh NNW wind.  Ther. 53.65.43.  Bar. 30.040.  Cloudy fair light wind after 12 M. Go to West Head Δ & take the angles from that point and run the rest of the shoreline on that side then cross to East Head, get some tea. See the Flying Mist coming out of Coal Harbor and standing to the Eastward.  Run shoreline from Popoff Rock to East Head & take the angles from that Δ.  Then get some tea & cross to Range Island & run the shoreline all around it.  Finish about 9 p.m.  calm, half cloudy, Bar. 30.020.
