Ther. 59.63.52. Bar. 30.120  Wind variable. [[abt?]] NE fresh start about 8 A.M. on our return. foggy & cloudy- Mr. Chute gives me a voluta which he got out of a codfish, see Card. Nuttallii Macoma nasuta and ochracea, Machuera patula Litorina sitkana, Purpura septent. & lactnea Chry. hiatus, Argob. Oregonensis, Volutopsis [[Beingi?]], Chiton tunicatus, the two common Acniaeas, the little margarita like belicina, Mya truncata, Saxidomus squalidus, Lapis staminea, &c. 

John reports a [[Solen?]] as common on the E side of the island opposite the harbor, in a sand beach. Stop at the rocks off the bluff between Falmouth and Eagle Harbors and take a series of angles and headings. Beat up to the rocks off Pinnacle point and take another series from one of these which will probably enable me to adjust some of the more glaring discrepancies of the charts. Then sail for Sanborn Harbor arriving at the vessel about 4 P.M. Foggy & rainy. Wind NE fresh. Evening make our reports for July. 9 P.M. bar. 30.030
