Morning half clear, Ther. 57, 66, 53 Bar. 30.096.  Light NNE wind go over to Eagle Harbor and make a sketch from the top of one of the hills and take a few bearings see opp.  Return about 1 P.M.  Afternoon pleasant & sunny - nearly clear & calm.   9 P.M. bar. 30.110 wind fresh NW.

Monday Aug. 5, 1872
Ther. 59. 76. 55. Bar. 30.140 cloudy fresh W  wind. later nearly clear, start from SW station in A.M. and run shoreline on S side entrance of Harbor & beyond.  P.M. continue to a pt opposite the E Head of Porpoise Harbor. Return at 8 P.M.  Find ripe raspberries today and intrusive granite penetrating the metam. slates and sandstones.  Very warm in P.M. 9 P.M. bar. 30.210. Calm
