Nearly clear. Ther.56 66 51, Bar, 30.110
Dry NE gale blowing. Go over to the East side of Nagai in A.M., examine the middle ridge for a station to triangulate on the eastern [[island?]]. Then proceed along the shore, toward the sand-beach and succeed in reaching it after some very hazardous climbing. The mountains here are granite and full of deep chasms. Crossover from the sand beach - to the foot of Sanborn Harbor arriving very faint & tired having had nothing to eat since 7:30 A.M. and now being 6:30PM. As they do not notice me from the vessel I build a fire on the beach, catch some salmon with my hands, out of the pools in stream, and proceed to roast and eat one of them which revives me a good deal. Then the storm which has been blowing all day begins to increase with rain and about 8:45 P.M. The boat with Mr Bailey & two men comes down and I get aboard and we beat up the harbor [[encumbered?]] by some severe squalls. All hand has been out on a search for me. Got aboard drenched. Get some coffee & turn in, a good deal fatigued & sore.
